Bonnet Sensor / Microswitch Problem

My Mum's A1 thinks the bonnets always open, I disconnected the cable from the bonnet latch and bridged the two wires going in to the loom to simulate
the microswitch being closed.

But it's made no difference and the bonnet open is still flashing on the dash, any ideas?
