Hey there,
I have had a look around on here and could not find any discussions on this.To be fair I am not very familiar with this forum. So I am gonna just ask....hope that's ok for a first post for ages.
Sadly my 2009 A4 3.0 TDI V6 SLine has been replaced although I'm sure someone is hooning around in it....Still miss it tho as I have turned sensible and bought an A6 2.0 tdi 190 in August 2024.I was assured it had had an oil change prior to sale at around 61K miles.Fast forward to today and around 65K miles so its not doing a high mileage and lots of short journeys...I know this is not ideal. However the oil level has not budged at all, actual mileage 4350.It seems noisy under the bonnet and the fan has started coming on after short journeys, however I have only noticed this very recently as the weather has got warmer. No low oil light warning...My spidey senses tell me it doesn't seem right.I am hoping that someone with a similar Audi may know more about normal oil consumption.I cannot see a plug to allow a dipstick but that does not mean it isn't there....if it is where is best to get the correct one?? I am tempted to put very small amounts of oil in gradually and run it to see if I get an overfill light.
Any advice from similar experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
OOPS I may have posted in the wrong group as it's a 2015 C7.....not familiar with this forum.....

Firstly this is the C6 forum, you might have more luck in the C7 for a 2015 model. :icon thumright:

Any number of reasons can cause the fans to come on and stay on more than expected, normal operation, interrupted dpf regen, faulty ac pressure sensor etc. A full scan would reveal if it is something to be worried about.

Agree with CupraDine, fans running could be anything. If you're planning on keeping your C7 A6 long-term, then consider getting VCDS. Audi will charge you at least £190+ for a diagnostic. You can get a 3 VIN package for as little as £225 (assuming you have an old laptop to run it on). That gives you unlimited updates to software and hardware dongle. That lets you scan car, see live data, soot levels, last regen, etc.

Back to your predicament. MMI oil level isn't great - but it tends to work, so I would trust it. What I wouldn't so is add oil - as you'll cause more issues than you solve. In my experience, diesels don't tend to use oil. They do like to be driven though, so short run journeys are problematic, with EGR, DPF, AdBlue, to contend with etc.

So you have done 4k miles since last August. Couple of options for you. At the very least do an oil change at 6k miles or by August at very latest. If you're spanner handy, then it's straight-forward. Chances are it's 5w30 LL oil. You can check with your registration on Castrol's site. Not sure what warranty you have with the car and what you are allowed or not allowed to do?

Other option is to speak to Audi - to see if 190PS engine came with dipstick tube but it's capped off. so you can retrofit a dipstick.
