Hi
I've got a 2005 A5 sportback fsi 2.0litre.
I wanted to put a different radio in, one I've had for years, so, out with the old, cut the plugs off (because I'm an idiot) and thought wiring mine in will be easy, ohhh, I was soo very wrong. 3 days later I still can't get a peep out of the speakers. What am I missing? I can turn the radio on and off but no sound, will someone please help me.

Why would you do that in an A5, the radio is integral to the cars infotainment system. First of all there are two different systems, I'm guess you have the basic Concert or Symphony radio as you never mention navigation, also you only have controls for the radio on the dash and not around the gear lever. Audi uses can bus to talk to the cars cluster via teh can gateway, if your new radio doesn't support this then the cluster will be empty of any radio channel information etc. Secondly the can bus is used to send signals to the radio to turn on/off and illuminate with the ignition. You can source these signals elsewhere is the car of course, such as a +12v ignition and a +12v illumination feed. So lastly and more importantly, the Audis use either a half amped or fully amped system. So your should have 4 thick speaker wires for the front speakers possibly / lines for the rears or a set of 4 line signals to the amplifier for all speakers, again the amp uses can bus to come alive, although you might be able to connect a remote wire.
