Currently replacing my DMF and clutch on my B8 3.0 TDI

Also heads up to anybody doing this on stands it’s a PITA, the gearbox is massive

This is the first Audi gearbox I’ve done. The new flywheel seems to have a lot of side to side play which I’m not sure is normal? (I’m just talking about the final movement on the YouTube link) I think the rotation and pressing on either side of the flywheel is normal but was surprised to see how much free play there was.

The old DMF is jammed together and has 0 play, so I have no frame of reference

Can anyone confirm is this is acceptable?

Just in case it helps anyone else, I put it in and it’s driving like a dream! No issues

I done my old B8 A4 on stands and Its a ******* of a job. How much was your transmission jack? I had to do mine with 3 people and brute force due to the weigh of the box.

That’s nuts, I can’t imagine doing it without the jack! Not something I want to do in a hurry again

I got a draper scissor jack for £90 on eBay, think you can get them ~£120 new. Think it’s rated to 200KG
