Hi :sm4:,

I’m trying to help someone in another group who has a 2006 A6 estate. She wants to use the car for car camping, and wants to be able to open the boot from the inside ?? I don’t have a 2006 A6 for reference, so I don’t know how the boot works, but she says she has to physically pull a handle on the outside to open the boot. She says there is no release on the key fob (even though there’s a button), or from the drivers seat area, which I find unusual for Audi ??

Is there an emergency boot release from inside the car, or is she missing something that is already in place ??

Cheers :sm4:

Hi,

The button on the fob should activate the boot latch, allowing you to pull or push the boot open. It does it when the car is locked, but I'm not sure if it still works unlocked.

The button in the car is in the drivers door pocket but was only installed if you had the power boot.

Below is an extract from the manual showing the manual release, which can be done using the screwdriver from the toolkit, which is behind the right hand boot cubby panel thing where the boot fuses are also located.

Hopefully this helps.

That’s great information, thanks for taking the time to reply :sm4:.

I’ve since found out there is no “handle”, it’s just your bog standard Audi boot switch above the number plate. Which means you could wire a separate boot switch internally to unlatch it from inside. You can also buy small springs to attach to the gas struts to give the boot a helping hand in self raising :icon thumright:
