Open to all FL owners but 'might' be more noticeable by pre FL RS3 8Y owners.

Cold start............

More noticeable the colder the weather is.

Does the FL still mess around for those first 50 metres or so on a cold frosty morning?

By that I mean does the car still make a lot more exhaust noise and have very little response to the accelerator pedal?

I had little response on gas pedal for the first few meters on my pre FL RS3 8Y. On my FL this has been "fixed", it feels way different (in a better way). I can't comment on frosty conditions as I park in an underground garage which is never below 10 degrees C

I assume there's still no hot air from the vents for at least 5 mins?! It would be nice if they did something about this as it's easily the most annoying thing about the car.

In case you are not aware of what the car is doing...
The water pump has a moveable shield that stops the water pump circulating the water, this is to allow the cylinder head to reach 70c as quickly as possible to bring emissions into spec, at 70 c the shield is withdrawn, the water circulates and the heater works.
In v cold weather the head temperature then reduces considerably and the process will repeat :(

Thanks,

This is one of the things that I get annoyed with, it must look like either the car is faulty or I cant drive smoothly,

I have a funny (minor) issue with my FL, which I am not 100% sure is an actual issue. Maybe someone with a FL can confirm how their car behaves.

Every time I turn off the car after a drive, I get a notification to check the rear seats. From my understanding this notification should only occur if a rear door was opened before the drive started. But for me this noticiation comes on after every single drive, even when I did not open rear doors or the boot. Also there is no stuff on the rear seats (which might trigger some sensor I guess). So I am thinking it might be a faulty sensor of some sort? Or is it standard behaviour to get this notification every time (perhaps for legal reasons).

Do you have a seatbelt plugged in to keep them tidy or for a child seat or something?

No, didn't touch anything in the back seats since I took delivery 3 weeks ago. I checked and none of the seat belts are plugged in. Anyway, probably a faulty sensor. Will have the dealer take a look at it when it goes in for the first oil change. So far is is the only issue on the car, so not too stressed about it.

Try set that "interior monitor" function off? Looks like another totally idiotic "feature" but goes in line with the HUD drawing a red line across the edge of the road when you drive near it.

I tried to google the warning and managed to find a TSB explaining how the 'rear occupant detection' works:

https://dot.report/bulletins/MC-11007217-0001.pdf

On some models it indeed checks if rear doors have been opened within 10 minutes of the drive, and this will then trigger the message. However at the very end of the TSB it says:

"Depending on the model and country, the message “Please check rear seats!” may also appear in on thegoodbye screen on the center display regardless of whether the rear doors are opened."

So I am guessing that for the RS3 (and A5 apparantly) they did not add the sensors but just show the message every time...

There's this on/off-selector there, so can you just disable it? Or does it re-activate by every startup, like the overspeed warning...?

Might also be a country specific feature, I don't remember seeing that in any of the brand new test drive cars I drove some weeks ago, including the FL RS3 and S5.

I think the interior monitor is also responsible for the alarm. So you can switch off the interior monitor if you leave a child or a pet in the car for a short time, so that the alarm does not go off.
