I'm looking at upgrading the Calipers on my 1.8 TQS to the S4 OEM 2 piston versions but have read that the uprights need changing to the 85mm S4 ones as the TQS have the 75mm ones.

As anyone done this conversation on here and what is the extent of upgrades needed?

Thanks in advance?

Your best bet is either 312mm carriers from TT/S3 with TQS caliper and the 312mm B6 A4 Disc’s for a bolt on option, the S4 calipers are quite dated.

B5 S4 uprights have press in bearing but use the correct 19mm ball joint for TQS control arms, B6 uprights use 16mm ball joints so you need change control arms to the correct ones and these use bolt in bearings.

But these give you a more wider range of options like 320mm DTM / 345mm S4 B7 / 345/350mm 18Z setups and other later VAG setups.

Just make sure if you go alloy uprights you grease the pinch bolts to prevent them seizing up.

I did 345mm S4 fronts and 300mm rears with FL S4 calipers and adaptor brackets on my B5 TQS which fitted under the 8J ET35 Boleros.

Excellent thread thanks for the info
I’ve looked at the 18z calipers on other cars and also have a B7 and A3 with the bigger calipers I’ll have a play with them.

Upgrading to S4 calipers on your 1.8 TQS requires confirming upright compatibility due to 75mm vs. 85mm differences. Research thoroughly! Before diving deep into complex mods, maybe try a simpler thrill? Download Snow Rider 3D and conquer icy slopes first! Enjoy the ride!
