Hi all, 2014 A3 rear right caliper was sticking on today. The wheel was extremely hot, and with it jacked up I couldn't turn it by hand. I could free the wheel off with a screwdriver, but every time the brake pedal was pressed it would seize again. This seems to me to be a classic case of a sticky brake piston, necessitating a new caliper. From the research I've done, it seems that the process of removing the caliper is more complicated than on the other (older) cars I have done this on, mainly due to the electric handbrake and some VAG software which I don't have.
This is my plan; jack the car up with handbrake OFF, remove rear wheel, unplug electrical connectors to caliper, undo the two caliper bolts, remove caliper, reinstall new caliper, attach electrical connectors, bleed the brakes, cycle the electric handbrake on/off a few times, put the wheel on, job done.
Will this work? I'm completely confident with the mechanics of changing a caliper having done it many times, it's just the computer bit I'm hoping to avoid.
Thanks for any advice, first time working on an Audi/electric handbrake so any tips greatly appreciated!
