I've only recently noticed that the steering wheel has stopped illuminating at night. I can't for the life of me remember when they were last working....could be a week....could be 6 months lol, but they used to.
I don't think it's the buttons in the wheel or the wiring loom for the buttons, as I have a spare set of both and substituting them does nothing.

I have checked the measuring values in the steering controller and there are values in there that change when you alter the brightness.

So in my mind it's either the controller (everything else works fine) or the wiring loom from the controller to the button wiring as in the one that is conneted to the airbag.

Without just buying new parts until it works, is there some way of testing the output wires?

It's doing my nut in and will continue to until I find the problem!

So 3 days investigating the issue, put a post up and then find the issue an hour later.

So it was the buttons on the steering wheel that were faulty as I tried the spare set again and they worked! Maybe I didn't turn the ignition on in my haste or missed something the last time I tried them, but it's all good now.
