I'm looking to offload the wife's Range Rover Evoque 2.0 diesel in the near future as it has been a reliability nightmare in the 4 years we have owned it and I'm thinking of replacing it with a pre-facelift A5 Sportback that I've seen for sale local to me with 114k miles that looks really tidy and is reasonably priced.
As ever, I've been doing my homework online and the only downsides I can see if I went for a pre-facelift car over the newer one are -
- emissions/road tax are quite a lot higher,
- fuel economy is marginally worse,
- only two seatbelts in the rear
- exterior looks a bit more dated
The service history looks pretty solid and I think the S-Tronic 'box has been serviced as it should have been but are there any other things I should worry about or be looking out for on the pre-facelift model and on the 3.0TDI CAPA/CCWA engine that maybe wouldn't be an issue on the later facelifted model?
Of course, I'm very mindful that this is a 13yr old car and will have certain bits of age related wear and tear but can any experienced owners of this car advise on anything that will most certainly be kn4ckered on a car of this age (injectors, timing chains & tensioners, HPFP, suspension etc.) that will potentially make this purchase a crazy idea?
