Hello everyone,
From some time I'm trying to activate CarPlay on my A3 Sportback 2018. My car is with MIB2 High (ver.: MHI2_ER_AU37x_P4203 and MU Software: 1168) and by default it doesn't have CarPlay installed (neither wired or wireless). The car has only 1 USB port (Charge Only) and AUX port under armrest. There is also 2 SD card slots and 1 SIM slot in the glove box.
I tried to activate the CarPlay wirelessly and that is what I did: by OBD11 I activated MirrorLink = ON; WiFi_Client_HMI = ON; Smartphone_interface_for_rhmi = ON; Wlan_5GHz_Switch = Activated; Apple_DIO = ON; Apple_DIO_Wireless = ON; Google_GAL = ON; Google_GAL_Wireless = ON. But when I connect to the car's bluetooth there is no pop up to start CarPlay. I tried to connect first to car's wi-fi, then to bluetooth – again no pop up to start CarPlay. When made changes by OBD11 everything finishes with confirmation of success. In RED Engineering menu there are these codes activated: 00070200; 00050000; 02300026; 02300026; 00040100; 023000ee; 00060900; 00060800; 00030000.
Maybe everything is activated but the car doesn't have hardware units to make connection? So, I will be very grateful if someone can help me with info what else should I do. Maybe I have to change armrest unit with USB that is not only for charge? Can you advise me on something suitable? One thing more – when scan for faults with OBD11 there is fault in 5F Multimedia: Interface for external media (No communication) with code U11B800. I'm attaching photo of USB under armrest.

Is this a hacked 5F unit? it does seem like it has the required FEC codes enabled for CarPlay/AA. Retrofits to activate CarPlay/AA always seem to involve updating the armrest USB ports so likely that is the missing piece to the puzzle.

Yes, it seems this is the thing I need to do - change the USB. I installed more incredible bash and made changes by OBD11 from 1st post - if that is hacking, then the 5F module is hacked. Thank you very much for your reply! Is this the right part for retrofit - 8V0035708? And is the changing just remove old one and put the new one or have to modify some connections and cables?

I found this part online that comes with a set of cables - 8V0035708 - this. It looks like it would fit. I couldn't find any instructions for installation and connection anywhere. Does anyone have any idea if it will work and if I can find a wiring diagram somewhere?

The green plug in the cables that you show in your link slots into the qualock connector connected behind the MMI.

Thank you very much for the answer. I will search for variation to order and replace that unit with USB.
