I've just booked in for the airbag recall and Audi are also showing recall emissions update 23BK
Given the car has a remap & EGR delete and is running sweet, I am a little concerned.
Anyone had this done, any noticeable affects?

The update will over write your map & open you a can of worms, decline the emission update due to the tuning on your car, they can’t make you have it done.

Thanks, called them to decline emissions update, apparently they have a form for me to sign.

sounds about right, also best way really as there can be no come back you're covered if they mess it up after you giving clear instructions to not do the update.

Can you update here after the recall please this has put me off having my airbag recall done till I know they’ll leave the egr delete and remap alone

In theory James if its only going in for an airbag recall they should not have to touch anything else let alone updates.
From my understanding, the air bag recall doesn't require any software updates anyway so if its only that being done they have no right to mess around with other functions.

Never heard of this. As far as I knew, only the 'Dieselgate' Audis were subject to an emissions recall; and that's the B8 generation for the A4.

It's in on the 27th, will report back.
I'll know if they've ****** up if the EGR light comes on.
I'll put a postit on the dash saying no emissions update please.
I could put a cable tie round the OBD port I suppose.

Mine's Jan 8th. No mention of the emissions thing. But mine's a 2.0TDi. Was this recall on your letter or the Gov checker?

As Kirk suggested above; not only will this wipe any mapping (I have non) but it would be worse than the factory stock file; which happened to the B8s - less emissions = less performance.

Letter in the post from Audi for the airbag and also printed on MOT certificate

Car at Audi Crawley today, I signed the disclaimer and replied to their opt out text.
Politely made it clear to service reception AND left a nice note across the steering wheel AND taped over the OBD port.
Airbag done (apparently) and OBD tape still intact, so guessing they don't need to plugin.
No egr lights on the 10 mile trip home, all seems good.

I’ve got the 3.0tdi b7 bkn engine, so just to clarify, did the letter for the airbag recall mention the emissions recall/update on the same letter? I’ve had my airbag recall done, and there wasn’t any mention of the emissions recall.

No, not mentioned on the letter, first I heard about it was when I spoke to Audi Crawley to book it in.
Mine is the ASB engine

Just had a registered letter.
V6 TDI 3.0 from 2008 (I guess D3 model), recall is about emission standard. I just wonder will they replace-repair the intake manifold (intake manifold "swirl" flaps), as I have from time to time an error for this issue. But car runs fine.
Could be a serious cost for a 2008 car. In the document it says free of cost, I wonder if they see the errors in the log and say "intake manifold have to be replaced". Motor is still working the problem is the open- close limit test during ignition.

Document says, (auto translate)

application in the propulsion control with regard to the operation of the emission reduction system should be regarded as an unauthorized shutdown device. This authority subsequently ordered a correction, which is carried out by AUDI AG through a software update. All affected cars will receive new software for the engine control unit. Some models will also receive a software update for it gearbox control unit to adjust the shift points. In addition, the throttle body will be checked on all models involved, followed by cleaning or replacement if necessary. The glow plugs of some cars are checked and, if necessary, converted.

Never had a remark during emission test at the tech control, even with error indicator on it is an euro-4 car. As far as I understand euro-5 an up cars are checked for detailed emission test.

Would Audi cover swirl flap repair under an emissions recall?
I'm fairly certain Audi UK wouldn't, unless in warranty.
I did my own swirl flap repair when I bought the car, exchange manifolds re-engineered in Poland.

My concern is what will the new software / update do when the swirl flap is failing the open / close limit test. I fear there is a catch in this story, they know exactly that some car’s are running with full open swirl flaps. Hence the emissions recall (my 2 cents).

Bit of an old thread, but recently put my S4 2.7 TDI Avant in for a small item prior to holiday. When I picked it up I was informed that this update had been done (no knowledge of this beforehand). Consequences of this is that my fuel consumption has gone from c39/40 mpg to 34/35 mpg. I can only assume that a previous owner had a remap done although performance doesn't seem affected.
