My S3 has no heated mirrors??

Bought a “high spec” 2017 S3 Saloon back in June, I specifically searched for one until I found one with every optional extra minus lane assist and folding mirrors.

But I guess I was wrong.. Now that the cold weather has arrived I’ve just realised it’s missing heated mirrors which is beyond ridiculous. From what I can gather this was an error from the production line because even the b****y base spec SE models have heated mirrors. Even my 05 plate polo had heated mirrors.

Don’t know why the original owner didn’t go right back to Audi when he realised this, but now I’m left to sort this out. I’ve done research online and I can’t find a single post about retrofitting heated mirrors on an MQB platform car because they all come with it from factory.

I have found one other post online about this where another A3 8V was missing heated mirrors but he was never able to get them working. He tried purchasing a new window switch with the heated mirror option but he wasn’t able to get it working. I have checked my mirrors, the wiring is definitely there for heated mirrors, but what else is required to get them working? Really hoping someone has the wiring diagrams & coding to fix this disgraceful error from Audi.

Are you sure they don’t come on with the rear defrost?

Can you pm me the vin or reg and I can check the build info - curious.

Ok so this definitely wasn't what I was expecting to see (given your location is listed as Manchester on your profile) so that would explain the lack of functionality enabled. Your car seems to be an Australian import.

Vehicle has PR of 6XC which states - Exterior mirror adjustment 6XC Exterior mirrors: power-adjustable

The mirror base PR for 6XD (w/ heated glass enabled) is the same so that would suggest the wiring harness is the same.

I wonder if its just something in your door controller that needs enabled

It's likely just a switch and coding - while your at it you might as well add the power folding mirrors, a very straightforward retrofit.

Not quite as simple as that.
You need to check that the door ECU are high, and if they're not, change them, and also change the mirrors.

Probably in Australia there's no need for heated mirrors, so they all come out without the button?
