Not worth paper it's written on !
Took sons gtd golf in as the local wv garage noticed a leak at crankshaft seal whilst doing a service . They told me to take it to the dealership I got it from and they would do diagnostic and inspection to say if it was covered by warranty a charge of £180 .
Good news they will repair under warranty but they won't cover the cost of diagnostic , robbing b@@@@@@s

I would challenge that as usually if it's shown to be under vag warranty the diagnostic cost isn't afaik charged.

Have you read the terms and conditions of the warranty contract? If you haven’t, it would be a good idea to do so. That way, you know what to expect and what you can reasonably ask for.

Is it still in its 3 year new car warranty? Bear in mind if it’s extended or any sort of aftermarket warranty the T&C’s may be different. Did you read your warranty handbook?

It was an approved used 2 year warranty I’ll try and read terms and conditions ! Clear as mud no doubt

Just read policy diagnostics costs not covered :wtf: Seems a bit harsh if the diagnostic cost a customer £180 and the cost of repair is a lot less :grumpy:

Is the car the 65-reg Golf you referenced in an earlier thread? If so, I don’t think it’s very harsh at all, given the myriad of possible defects that a near ten-year old car can potentially suffer from.

By the way, I've just looked up the current version of the VW Approved Used 2-year warranty. The document reference is VW-UK AUW-CB 12/23, so was last updated in December 2023. I don't know if it the same as your son's contract, but the current version says the following, on page 13 under the heading "How To Make A Claim":

"We will not pay for any diagnostic costs, other than the reasonable costs of diagnosis should a claim for a defective component be valid under this cover."

Does your son's say something different from that?

Yeah you’re right ! Least the jobs getting done :thumbs up: I think the fact the service manager at the other dealers told me I should get it refunded made me more annoyed :chargrined:
