Hi mate they’re aluminium. Saw one today in the dealer.

On the back of this has anyone bought a front S3 badge and fitted it to the facelifted model? If yes from where and how?

I’ve had my fl about 3 weeks, plastic paddles on it also. Black edition with the tech pack pro. Would be interested to hear how you get on with the dealer. I wondered if it was to do with the tech pack pro and the round steering wheel you get as a result.

I'll let you know I've just watched a review with Joe Achilles and he drove a vorsprung with aluminium paddles but said it was a press car don't know if that makes any difference ?

At least the tips should be aluminium. Plastic paddles sounded weird so I checked some random new S3's in Autotrader and indeed one clearly had plastic paddles. It had a round steering wheel (not the flat bottom one). Configurator shows aluminium paddles for both wheels though. All the other cars seemed to have aluminium paddles.

So weird stuff indeed, sounds like a mistake in production. The A3 with S-line pacage should have the same steering wheels but plastic paddles.

Well I'm sure gonna be asking for the right ones !
They charge enough for them

Mine are black plastic (Black Edition with TPP) but I think the car specs are a bit random and press cars probably get better options.

I've seen videos of press cars with electric tailgates whereas mine only has a manual one.

Yes I wondered about the tailgate as well .
I'll see what there excuse is when I go in to finalis deal on wed

Plastic paddles on mine as well. Do have the electric tailgate though.
Black edition with tech pack.

Strange I thought buying a vorsprung would have covered these options on mines ?

The vorsprung, and the optional TPP on the black edition include the comfort key with safe lock. According to the Audi UK website this includes the ability to open the boot using a kicking motion. I have this and don’t see how it would work without a powered boot.

The paddles on the steering wheel are a bit of a disappointment, none of the specs mention material used.

The kicking motion does nothing on mine and the equipment details on myAudi says "Manual boot compartment lid"

Hmm I sat in the dealer yesterday in a standard Black Edition and it has them. I was told there was no optional extras on the car. Maybe it’s a new introduction?

What does the Sonos sound like compared to the b&o? And do the door cards still rattle from the speakers?

Can't compare to B&O since I haven't heard it, but based on short test drive, the Sonos in FL A3 sounded almost worse than the starting price basic stereo in my car. Subwoofer was non-existent even thought I adjusted it all the way up, though afterwards I thought that might be at least partly becuase it was brand new and not yet broken in. The high tones were ear-cutting sharp. During the test drive I didn't find right adjustments to make it sound listenable. No rattles though.

I'd like to know if someone has found out it shapes up by time and use.

I don't find the Sonos particularly good and feel the standard system in mk7 Golf was better.

On the back of this thread has anyone bought a front badge for the facelifted S3? Where from and how is it fitted? Cheers

I’ve heard they may be putting front badge on newer models ! If that’s the case mine will be going back and parked in reception till I get one fitted
lol !

Yes i’ve heard that too. Apparently going through safety testing for the front grill badges which is a longer process. I’m not keen on adding an ‘old’ badge to the front of mine with there being a ‘new’ badge on the bum, but i’ll be on the phone to the dealership as soon as new front badges are ready. (and yes i know the old s badges are on the seats, steering wheel and door sills but at least i can make my exterior badging consistent lol)

Got my Facelift S3 a week ago, came out of a pre facelift I got new in march
The PFL car had metal style paddles but was on a flat bottom steering wheel
The FL car I have now (100% better car all round) has a round steering wheel but platic paddles - wasn’t a deal breaker tbh - every other aspect of the car makes up for it

Both cars black edition with tech pack pro

Non-UK spec, they are a whole another story. For example in our local configurator I can choose those wheels and they don't even cost extra, only bigger wheels cost more. Sonos is standard but back seats just 60:40 (and I don't think anyone here ticks the 40:20:40 ). And in Germany you have to add lots of stuff that's standard elsewhere.

Edit: seems like they corrected the wheel prices. Every other wheel than the standard one costs extra now.

Anyone else with a new S3 having creaking noises when turning the steering wheel at low speed or going over speedbumps? Or a rattle coming from underneath the left side of the car audible at low speed?

I haven't sat in one, but my local Audi dealer was trying to interest me in a brand new Daytona Grey Vorsprung S3 a couple of weeks ago. On the video he sent me you can clearly see that the paddles are plastic. Also, the steering wheel is round. Incidentally, I couldn't get over how boring the front of the car looked. No S3 badge and the new "four rings protrusion" that just shouts cheap and nasty. They could have done a lot worse (and they did!) than stick a quality four rings badge at the front of the bonnet as they did with the final TT.

All U.K. cars have plastic paddles regardless of the spec, only the EU cars have aluminium paddles same as the satin paint and red stitching on available for EU market.

I've just realised that RHD cars have the Drive Select, TCS, Park Assist etc. buttons in the same order as LHD cars which makes it an awkward reach to change driving modes. The Drive Select button should be next to the driver.

Audi swapped the Start button and volume controls around for RHD cars but were too cheap to rearrange the other buttons!

I’ve just swapped my plastic paddles to the nicer metal pre-facelift style ones - fit and work a treat :

For the facelift S3...pretty sure it is like this...

Round steering wheel = plastic paddle

Flat Bottom Steering wheel = Aluminum (just for look or real, not sure) paddles.

So are we saying the UK S3 comes with plastic paddles (Joe Achilles suggests so in his latest review on YT).
There are some who have the Black Edition (flat steering wheel) that managed to get aluminium paddles, but those with pack or vorsprung edition (round steering wheel) are getting the plastic paddles ??

And the front S3 badge may arrive with newer builds (yet to be confirmed)?

I’m looking at the S3 Vorsprung (as I want the dynamic dampers), but it would be very bizarre if they come with plastic paddles v the cheaper BE.

I actually like the dynamica on the BE along with the flat bottom steering wheel, it’s so annoying you can’t add the adjustable dampers.

Out of interest, has anyone test drove one with & without the adjustable suspension?
Interested to know if it does feel different.

The showrooms only seem to have the BE (and a Aberdeen have it with £4k off the price which caught my eye )…
