Hi all,

I assume most people have heard the 8.5y exhaust note vs 8.0y.
There does appear a slight improvement, with Audi stating that they have retuned the exhaust flap specifics.

Anyone know if this is a hardware change or a software one?

If its software related perhaps it could be added to the 8.0y ...??

Food for thought.

I have the ASR exhaust valve controller on mine, the controller allows valves to be open all the time or controlled like Audi intended them (but always open is 'Sport' mode, it is a welcome addition but not perfect by any means.

Audi went a little OTT on the 8Y opening the valves at idle but closing them as soon as the car moves, just too quiet, but, they're nearly correct as with the valves open all the time the car does get a little 'drummy' inside at Motorway driving especially when going uphill and in al honesty I now close them on a Motorway type journey

It will be interesting to see whether Audi have changed the exhaust/just allowed the ecu to open the valves earlier/changed the valves for one's that can be progressively opened or both :)

Could be.. may be the flap motor is of the stepper motor type, which will allow more control. Or could be the flaps are controlled individually. Just a thought.

The 8Y flaps were able to be partly open in certain conditions.
