I'm going to view a A3 45 TFSI S Line Competition tomorrow in a local Ford dealership. I'm thinking of trading in my 2020 118D BMW and would like to know others advice on this car.
I've never had a Hibrid before so it's all new to me. My travel to work is about 18 miles round trip, will I be able to do this on EV mode only and at about what cost? I intend to charge at home via a 3 pin plug overnight, is this viable?
Is there anyone on here with the exact car to give me some insight to them? I have had 2 previous Audi's over the years, both A3 TDI Quattro's which were fantastic cars.

Here's the link to the one I will be viewing tomorrow.

Thanks

This is making me consider a phev instead of electric as i don’t want to worry about making it home or charging public. Also, the 80kw cars i like are 30-35k and i found an a3 for 24k.

Did you end up making the trade? Just sold my 45e competition and going full electric but ill give you my experience of owning the car for the past 2 years.

Overall cracking car with more than enough power for our UK roads and great MPG when the battery has sufficient charge. Only down size got me was the size of the boot... too small for what im needing.

The battery can be a bit tricky, 70% of the time I never plugged it in to charge and let it re-gen itself or charge with the engine. This hurts the MPG though so unless you're not bothered then dont worry about it. At times I would plug in at home 5hrs to charge up using the 3 pin socket or it I was out at a mall plug into the pod point, 3.5hrs full charge.

You'll notice a massive difference on power when it's charged, gently cursing along the motorway getting +70mpg. Then if you need to over take just a gentle press on the pedal and you'll be passed the car in front. I could count on one hand how many times I drove it on full EV mode but when driven on it I never noticed I wasnt in hybrid.

Cons of the car - I did experience a bit of wheel spinning on a wet road if pulling away at roundabouts/lights. You do get some lag between motor/gearbox when slowing down at junctions I noticed almost like a judder.

Hope this helps.

I didn't finally get that car as it was gone when I got to the dealers. I know this has been a while since I posted originally but I now have a black edition 2025 A3 tfsi e with 2800 on the clock so it's virtually new. Being totally new to hybrids I've only driven on EV all the time while I get used to how it all works? Would you recommend driving it in hybrid mode on the selector and leave it there? How often would the petrol kick in if I did that? There's lots to take in at the moment and I'm trying to find my way around the car and controls and MMi etc.
One thing, it creeps forward when I come to a stop, how do I stop that from happening?
