Drivers side vanity mirror

Hi all,

2006 B7 S Line,
Not that I would use it as such, but just seeing if I have a fault.

When I slide the mirror cover on the drivers sun visor, no light comes on. On the passenger side it does light up.

Do I have an issue? Or maybe the drivers visor doesn't illuminate?
 
I think you will find both sides are illuminated, mine are but then never assume anything to be the same with audi. :thumbs up:
 
should be illuminated when you slide. Obvioulsy you have checked the bulb in the headlining ?
 
jup should light up could be a bulb out.. and now that you said it you just reminded me to get a full 6000k led kit for te interior bulbs... I don't really like the sea of white light but it helps to find stuff that drops out of your pockets and in saying that i'll get a set of those gap fillers too nothing more annoying than when stuff drops right between the tunnel console and the front seat rails... my big hands always endup scarred to get those bits out. Right i'm off online to go find the 2 things i just pointed out.
 
I find that the gaps between the seats are just too tight for gap fillers. If they were bigger then maybe gap fillers would work but right now they are just about the perfect size to be really annoying as stuff can get down there but you will never be able to get the stuff as my fat hands cant reach the stuff. So end up doing the usual contorted fumble from the back . Sometimes you are lucky and find a pound coin :)

Worst case I'll make my own lol it's just a piece of cushion foam that has a faux-leather cover... I can get that from anywhere and a template is made quick enough... rather just buy it though.

Ps I also do the reach around from the back of the seat but still manage to damage my hands.

Sorry all, mine does work. Was expecting a light in the actual visor but the light is above the visor on the headlining, all good!
The most annoying gap I find is between the front seats and the door sills.
It's about a half inch gap....somewhere down there went a magnum lolly stick...gone forever lol as I can't see it from under the seat from the back either.

What can I use to vacuum in that gap? I don't have an attachment narrow enough. I ended up sticking duct tape to a ruler and picking up dust / bits with that hahaha

Another gap to avoid is the one between the ashtray and the A/C. This time it was a wooden fish and chip fork....it went behind the ashtray. Removed what I could as the ashtray flap wasn't opening properly. Pulled up the gearstick gaiter and a bit of the foam etc, must've dislodged the fork as the flap now works fine. The fork is still under there somewhere....gone forever!

The only way to get the ashtray fully out is to remove first the double din, then the A/C control. Didn't fancy all that faff and disturbing it all.
Lesson to self...Audi's like to eat small wooden things when the chance is handed to them!

Like I said the light is in the headlining :)

Now to your question about the gap of doom and how to get stuff out... the only way I found is either to move the seat fully back or fully forward and sometimes you can find whatever fell down there. But your many issues seem to be what I can only assume is you having a full on dinner in your car :) magnums, fish and chips you name it :)
BTW the ashtray will come out without taking the AC unit. How do I know this . because I spent a while fitting a short shift to my RS and this is one of the steps. Tilt the ashtray lid back , trim out around the gear shifter to expose the two bolts ( 8mm I think ) . This frees up the ashtray. Bring the lid back up, finders down the back and then slide one side out first. There is a small cut out on either side, like a half cresent shape. The ashtray has two tabs on each side. The trick is to gently pull the side of the knee bolster/centre console whilst tilt the ashtray until the tab clears the cresent cutout and then you can lift the ashtray out. Remember there is a small cable which is there to illuminate the ashtray, remember to pull that off. Then the whole ashtray will come out and then you can remove the sound deadening foam etc. Its a PITA but works.

Best method I find is to unbolt the front seats and tilt back then vacuum underneath etc , I do it annually along with a carpet shampoo .

What he means is, he gets his butler/car valeter to do that whilst he sits there dining on fois gras and sipping a cold beverage :)

I should be so lucky, Strictly a hands on approach to everything in our house hold inc helping out the wife as much as possible.
She’s doing a great job looking after me at the moment too, wouldn’t be without her.

Thats good to hear, lets hope you are a good patient. If I am ill my wife usually has sympathy for the first day or so and then after that its downhill :)
