8.5Y RS3

I believe that the tech pack adds all of that except the carbon bits, Sonos, insulated glass and contour lighting.
The Sonos and insulated glass are listed as standard equipment as part of the Tech pack which is standard on all 3 models, to avoid confusion then adding the Tech pack pro on the standard model upgrades the lights to the same darkened Matrix units as on the carbon model.

I never looked for contour lighting but suspect this may also be included on all 3 models.

So by adding Tech pack pro to the standard model am I right in saying that the only differences could be wheel design and carbon bits?

Thanks for the help.

That's the way I took it as well. I think if I was doing it again I would go with the standard model.

Also if you have the Carbon bits on the interior you lost the contour lighting on the dash on my 8Y.

I was never keen on the spoiler either but it does go well with all the other Carbon bits.

I'm sticking with mine for now. Kids are all grown up now so looking at something a little different. Will take me a while though.

I've previously mainly had BMWs so this is a bit different for me and why I've been looking for some advice.

I have ordered a carbon saloon but when my order is revised next week (salesman on holiday) I'm going to switch to a standard model with tech pro pack unless there's something I'm missing and a big difference in equipment between the two.

The carbon does look nice but it's something I've never felt the need for on previous cars and due to that don't feel it's good value for me.

Was the RS exhaust standard on all 3 versions of the 8Y like it is on the face-lift? Looking at used cars it appears the standard model didn't have it last time around, again the exhaust is something I'd want.

£3810 for some carbon trim - to my eyes, the rear spoiler on the Sportback looks a bit aftermarket. Then the more tricky to clean wheels and my decision was easy.
As far as I can tell, with the tech pack, they are otherwise identical.
Only the vorsprung gets extras such as adaptive dampers.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts that once adding Tech pro pack the two models are identical other than carbon and alloys.

I agree £3800 seems a lot to pay for carbon amd completely agree the wheels look a nightmare to clean even if ceramic coated.

From memory I don't think the standard one had the Sports Exhaust. The two reasons I went for the Carbon was for the Exhaust and because the Vorsprung had the Bus steering wheel that I just could not live with.

Wise choice, the sports exhaust is something of a must for me too and now it's standard on all 3 models its a bonus.

Save your money and dont bother with the rs exhaust. Use the money saved on a good aftermarket exhaust.. i had rs exhaust on my 8y, sold it and got the miltek race exhaust, car sounded alot better

Exclusive paint option is on the config for £4k, and there's now a matt option for £5k as well. Wonder how many will choose that?

Signed on the dotted line for mine yesterday.
Expected build week is the end of February.
The dealer was saying that an 82 (yes 82) year old had ordered one in merlin purple.
£4k is ridiculous. My 8V is Navarra Blue which was exclusive at the time. From memory, it was £1.7k (which was also ridiculous).

I'd have picked Navarra Blue now had it been an option instead of Daytona Grey, thought long about Ascari Blue but from pictures(couldn't find a car locally in that colour to look at) it looked a bit flat under certain light so took the safe option.

Build week end of Feb implies there has been decent uptake for these cars and it would explain why the £1.5k finance contribution was withdrawn after a few days.

I have been told build week 3 for March delivery.
I've ordered through the same dealer as yourself and hoping the car is built in time for a March collection, order wasn't finalised until 8th of this month due to me changing from the carbon spec to base spec with Tech pro pack, red stitching and red calipers. Didn't feel the carbon and 10 spoke alloys were worth the extra £3800 once tech pro pack is added to both version of cars.

Anyone else got their confirmed order from Audi and build week

Got an unexpected call today from the dealer saying build week 46 and car expected to them early December

That is interesting, I never asked for an update they called me unexpectedly to say it had been accepted and allocated a build week.Is there a parts shortage on both saloon and sportback or just one model variant?

Ideally I don't want the car until March

Yeah it will, I'll await to see if I get any progress update within the next few weeks.

The dealer said he had 10 cars on order and only 2 had just been given build weeks and that I was one of the lucky ones, he double checked the system whilst on the phone so no idea what to make of it all.

Is it a coincidence that the two cars with confirmed build dates (yours and mine) are non-carbon cars?

That thought did cross my mind, when I originally ordered it was the carbon version and the dealer already had 3 orders for carbons very similar to mine at that point so surely they were ahead of me.

We have both received recent updates with accepted orders by Audi from the same dealer so here's to hoping they go ahead.

Build weeks can and do move, I ordered mine in Sep 21 (SB Vorsprung), eventually got a build week of 16, this then reduced to 12, I decided to alter the seats from leather to Dynamica (not a big leather fan tbh) and went into the dealer just before Christmas, asked them to alter the order, she phoned me back saying the order had moved to week 3 or 4 and was 'locked in' so changes were not allowed

The build week I have been given is only 3 weeks away (11th Nov) so based on your experience then if it is going ahead it should become "locked in" very soon? The dealer did say build weeks can move like what happened to yourself but also said the further away a build week is the more it tends to jump about.

Having had BMWs and VWs in the past they also moved about until being confirmed for build a couple of weeks prior at which point no changes could be made.

The bucket seats are available to spec in the UK.
£2k on Vorsprungs & £2.5k on the other trims.
Black, green or red stitching.

Good Luck with that change so close, as I said earlier my build week came forward and the change I wanted wasnt avaialble as the car was presumably locked/programmed in and no further changes were allowed.

I asked what if I go ahead with the changes and she said she didnt know as Audi would cancel the build and whether the re order would go to the very random way Audi appear to accept orders or replace my current date for build she didnt know.

By 'very random' I mean, back in mid Sept 2021 when I ordered mine there were people who had ordered up to 6 weeks earlier than me, my car came in 1st week of March 22, some of the people who ordered 6 weeks before me never got their cars until very late in 2022 (and a lot got fed up and cancelled)

It appears 'random' whether it's on Group retail numbers, local dealer numbers, Audi UK bunching models or colours together and then Audi.de doing similar I have no idea.

There was a 'tracker' thread on here somewhere for order/build week/delivery

I can't select the Tech Pack and the Bucket Seats at the same time.

Same issue for me, it says "the options you have selected cannot be combined" and asks to confirm removal of the Tech pro pack if wanting to add the bucket seats.

Tech pack pro includes electric seats which the buckets aren't AFAIK, so maybe the configurator is seeing that and just saying Computer Says No. Probably best to speak to a dealer.

If you add the buckets to the Vorsprung model it says it removes the following, 4 way lumbar support for front seats, interaction airbag system, memory seats and door mirrors which confirm what you say about the buckets not being electric and explains why they are not compatible with the Tech pro pack.

So, on the base spec, it's not possible to have Buckets and Matrix.
Tough choice but the headlights win for me - despite really wanting alcantara seats.

Completely agree, I'd rather have the contents of the Tech pro pack than bucket seats if I had to choose. If my build week is correct and in 3 weeks I doubt I'd have been able to change my order anyway.

A lot of the M3 reviews say BMW bucket seats are fantastic, more so if you do track days, but if your using the car as a 'daily' driver the std seats are the better option, as the buckets are a pain to get in and out of, I wonder if the Audi bucket seats generate similar reviews?

On the Matrix headlamps they are a wonderfull invention, they still pizz about 1 in 50 oncoming drivers off though probably because they 'look' too bright, they can dance about a little in busy traffic switching elements on andoff

For a long while I wanted the buckets in my 8V, to the extent I actually tracked some down and was fully prepared for the cost, but when it came time to pull the trigger I came to the conclusion it would limit the car too much with some of the people I need to carry in the passenger seat. I know more than one that has put comfort seats in an R8 for that reason.

I like the matrix headlights but I still don't find I can use them in anything above sparse traffic on a single road. 8Y are better but not by much and certainly not to the level of the newer Hi-Def lasers and I still don't think the FL 8Y is getting them unlike the RS6.

£2,000 for those incredible buckets....that's a no brainer surely!!!! I would have suspected Audi robbing you to the tune of circa £3,500

But you lose full leather and electric adjustment and memory to both seats and mirrors.

I must admit there were a few things that I thought I could do without on my SB Vorsprung, one was the memory seats but with Wifey also using the car just getting in and pressing the 1 button instread of back/forth/up/down is wonderfull (it should work off which key you have as well but thats hit and miss tbh)
