8.5Y RS3

Just had a quick look myself at Drive the deal. The ~10% discount after options isn't actually that bad a deal. I can guarantee if I asked any Audi dealer for 10% off you'd get laughed at. Good to have the quote in hand when you go in though. Just depends if Audi dealers honour it or revert to new pricing come March time.

I ordered through Drive the Deal in September, car built and sat at the dealers compound until I collect 1st March as agreed when I ordered.

Dealer agreed my price is protected from any rises as long as I collect in March as initially agreed, no way I'd delay it until 1st April when VED doubles meaning an extra £1650 payment.

I see Aberdeen Audi now have at least 1 car in, so will go for a nosey. Will also ask at the time if I place order now, will they waive the price increase and keep today's price. Then hit them with the drive the deal pricing. Be a bit of fun for 5 minutes in a dull January watching the boy's face contort.

Let us know how you get on, I might swing by and do similar if it goes well. Lol.

I got a call back from Drive the Deal about the query I put in earlier if it's of any use to people. Red VS SB with buckets and red callipers came to something like £64,870 with the discount and then with a £10k deposit the monthlies were looking like £761 over 48 months @ 9k miles a year and a £37,345 final value. The killer for me was the 10.5% APR from Audi Finance! Said that it would be June/July before the car came in.

Yeah, that's a significant chunk of cash. More than I pay on my mortgage by a good amount!

I honestly don't get who would pay that sort of deposit / monthly payments coupled with high insurance and road tax....

To be fair, the road tax thing isn't a great argument anymore, given that all but the very basic of basic Tesla Model 3's (as an example) will be paying the exact same amount as the RS3 as of April.

But you're right about the silly cost of insurance and those monthly payments. How can the people these cars are realistically aimed at afford that, even on PCP, let alone buying them outright or with a loan?

And that's why it's done, to keep consumers hooked to credit agreements and PCP trade-ins, rather than the autonomy to own outright and the flexibility that then provides. And we fall for it, either unaware or unable to afford the alternatives.

True, but at least the Fuel is cheaper, so the saving is big for us and i can save the money / put it to better use elsewhere.....

It's a fools game keep swapping the same car for.......the same car lol, i can imagine it leads to ruin for some people as they try to keep up with the shiniest newest thing.

I’m just happy my electric car missed the premium tax part by a year. But as you say, fuel for them is much cheaper if you can charge at home.

Now, now. From that rear 3/4 view I actually think the FL looks amazing.

To me, still looks like the whole thing is trying too hard, that front and rear on the FL just adds to the problem IMHO. Not seen one in the flesh yet so waiting to see but can't see me changing my mind even ignoring the price and other things that Im not keen on.

Not that bad in the flesh. Overally again a nice spec on the video. The one thing that's bad is the price for the individual color...

And the goddamn steering wheel.
Sorry but too Halfords for my taste. The rear reflector is horrid. The Steering Wheel is just another step backwards. The haptic buttons never work, VW found that out, now Audi has adopted it.

They should’ve spent the money to upgrade interior materials.

And the funny thing is the S3 still got the old but nice wheel with real buttons. Only the top of the range performance car has to suffer from the haptic crap on non-circular steering wheel. Why, Audi, why?

Go check the newest bigger Audi models with the passenger screen, without the screen. There you find the complete lack of quality, A3 lineup is still pretty decent compared to them.

Sat on Merc CLE the other day. The center console felt like cling film thin plastic and creaked when I touched the screen with a little pressure. Absolutely unbearable for such an expensive car. Seems like better to stick with older cars if you want to avoid that kind of quality feel.

Yeah, seems like a trend with cheaper interiors. Have you seen the new M5. The interior quality is shocking, especially on a 130k plus car.

I've seen it but couldn't sit in, the car was locked. Having sat in other 5 series Bimmers I gotta admit that while the materials are quite unworthy (especially compared to old 5) it still feels quite well built.

I think the carbon fibre trim lists in M5 actually make it look cheaper. There's some dignity left in the 5 series interiors with aluminium or wood in them. Although the wood's probably fake.

The M5 2-tone seat design is very odd btw. Look at the red-black seat and think about inverting the colors. No need to tell what you see and sorry if you can't unsee it anymore.

You just cant beat an Audi dealer :laugh:

I went into my local dealer about 2 weeks ago, expressed my interest in a FL RS3 but said I would like to see one first, no need to sit in it etc, just 'have a look' he said they had 2 for delivery late Dec/early Jan, took all my details and said he would call me

Yesterday I popped in to pick a part up for my lad, I know the parts guy pretty well, have done for years. He said we have had 2 facelifts go out in Jan, a Kermit green SB only yesterday, they just never improve do they?

It's almost like they don't want to sell cars to people with an interest in them!

@Japper_ARS3 heading in on Friday for a look around the red one they have in. Drive the deal have gotten back to me so I can go in armed with that. Anyone want a 2019 X3M?

Had the same with BMW before the X-drive M3 was released. Left details / visited few dealers and none of them got back to me until months after I ordered one…..***!

Most dealers / sales personnel can’t be bothered to get off their **** anymore!

You'd think now sales aren't great they'd be more pro active to shift them.
I've had several emails off different dealers telling me my 8Y needs an MOT / service lol even quoting it's new private reg number.......

And yet people keep on going back to them.........
Went around in a big circle with that one, RS3 still seems like the car for us..and the dog, whatever else I look at just doesn't tick enough boxes

I changed from a XPlane R1 to the S1000RR and the doubts started within about 250 metres, It did everything spot on and clinical, the hp at the time was out of this world but after maybe 6 months I found it boring and swapped to an Aprilia RSV4, I think it's more the 'theatre' than the out and out performance, I still have an Aprilia (4th) and a 23 R1M, both get under my skin, the noise has a lot to do with it I think :)

True .. but they have lost a lot of us that were loyal to Audi for years.
I bought nothing else but Audi's from 2008 to 2022 (with just a short dip into Merc).
We had 2 at one point as my wife had a TT too when I had my 2016 RS3.
Now, there is nothing at all in the line up to draw me back.

Thats the scary thing for me across just about every manufacturers range, there is just nothing out there that appeals to me at the moment, every car seems to have to be bigger than the last model, Chris Harris says the latest M5 is too big for UK roads
