I would like to share my experience on tuning RS3 8Y.
I have owned cars for more than a year and have done various modifications before I got to the current situation .
I installed Wagner EVO 1 intercooler.
I initially installed JB4 module from American Burger sport .
I installed Milteck 200 cell downpipe with Seletron emulators .
I uninstalled Milteck 200 cell downpipe since I did not like wastgate rattle .
I installed catback BTM turbo version with ASR .
I installed Eventuri intake ( without turbo inlet elbow ) .
I dyno tested cars with Wagner Intercooler configuration , Eventuri intake , Jb4 module and the performance obtained was disappointing .
Scan 0002

Increase of almost 35 hp but with a poor torque curve.
I tried replacing Jb4 module with ChipBox from Seletron . After some initial problems ( I got a faulty wiring harness ) I managed to install it . I tried to make a neat and tidy thing by making a bracket with 2 mm thick carbon sheet attached to the chassis using a screw from the RIGHT headlight .

I then had ChipBox Seletron module bench calibrated by Raaro in Monterotondo (Rome ) .
They have extreme expertise on this . They manage to set module by setting specific boost targets for each rpm checking ECU corrections and dyno performance .
After two hours between dyno and road tests the results were very satisfactory .
RS3 8Y GL1434EP ori vs Stage 1 modulo 100 RON immagini 1

RS3 8Y GL1434EP ori vs Stage 1 modulo 100 RON immagini 2

Increased power 60 hp and torque 70 Nm with a very smooth curve , no holes .
In conclusion I recommend installation Intercooler Wagner Evo 1 and Seletron Chipbox module calibrated on the bench by a professional ( in Italy I recommend Raaro ) .
The Eventuri intake is an investment you can overlook ( it makes a lot of scene with the hood open , has outstanding turbo flutter but I don't think it gives performance gains ) .
The BTM turbo catback really costs a lot but is the only solution to get a decent exhaust sound without having to install a downpipe .
I did two acceleration tests using audi diagnostics.
0-100 in 3.2 sec
0-200 in 11.2 sec note: last road section was slightly uphill ( consequently 100-200 should be on 8 sec )
outside temp. 13 degrees
tests done in dynamic , I was not able to do tests in performance

lol all that money you spent for 3.2

JB4 on map 2.

Comparing performance solely on 0-100 is in my opinion reductive . Can you provide times on 0-200 obtained with Jb4 map 2 ?
Do you have any dyno test charts where you can compare power and torque original car and after modifications ?
The power diagrams I posted on my first setup were with Jb4 map 3 and it was not exciting . I think Jb4 is a very good product but the maps provided were tuned on US versions different from those on the European market . Surely a tuner who knows how to work on Jb4 can get better performance.
My intention was to provide information on what can be achieved without mapping cars while maintaining warranty. With investment of an increased Intercooler costing 1,050 € plus assembly ( in my case zero since I assembled it myself in the garage ) plus chip box with Seletron that intercepts engine RPM / TPS and can be programmed cost 550 € + 300 € dyno tuning by a competent tuner seems to me a good investment for 60 hp and 70 Nm.

Sooooo glad I don’t own one anymore.

Too much Willy waving with these cars.

Exactly the second reason I hate the RS3.

so any news from tuners regarding the cracking of the brains?
i saw some posts from Iroz w/ Simos equipment, but dude this is not an easy one :)
also, some guys from Poland claim to crack it, but no actual proofs.
if anyone could shed more light to this, would be cool.

Unitronic are close to releasing. They are not divulging much info but have said pushing for Q4

Are all the 'standard' (Revo,APR, MRC) systems built on top of AutoTuner when they get released to the plug and play market?

Could be one to keep an eye on, and once they have the MG1 MED17.7.5 stiff listed, it won't be long....

I've always swithered with the thought of a JB4 / Racechip but dubious as to whether the performance is overly noticeable. COULD be tempted...

I currently have a jb4 and the performance is deffo noticeable. Especially whenn i disconnect when taking to audi. I now have a pedalbox, and the combination of both this car is an animal

Burger Motorsports have just uploaded a video on YouTube, admittedly it's in America, but the numbers are impressive on the dyno.

apr are close to releasing the st1. based in gathered info, i dont think it will be more than 475 hp. so +- same results as posted there.
good thing that ecu really seems to be unlocked – so wait for more alternatives from other tuners soon

Of which will be chargeable at £2,000, think I’ll stick with my RaceChip
Crazy money for little gains isn't it.
I wouldn't put it past Audi to have locked the 8.5Y even tighter.

What makes me laugh is seeing posts about people installing bigger coolers with no mapping lol......

so apparently both Unitronic and APR are to release solution as they have just announced their RS3 8Y solutions. Both deliver >500 hp, question is pricing

As far as I understand both still require ECU to be unlocked first before flashing via obd.

Also appears cost will be similar to SYVECS stand alone ECU so not going to be a cheap option.

And then there’s still SFD2 to deal with, so when the car is full of errors from messing with ECU’s you won’t be able to just clear them like the old days I’m afraid. SFD2 is dealer only unlock currently.
VAG have now locked all their cars up properly so people cannot mess with them.

Yep, a cheeky Bluespark Box will be the limit I would take. Seems the best value for returns.

I had a JB4 when I had the 8Y, unplugging the boost sensors can cause errors, the ECU still seemed to pick up that they’d been unplugged even while allowing the car to go to ‘sleep’
Not as much of an issue on the 8Y first gen, as that only had SFD1 which can be unlocked by OBD11 to allow VCDS etc to clear codes.

Basically if it developed a problem I think Audi would be able to tell now what and where it was messed with.
Not something I’d be risking on a 70k car.

Yep, anyone who believes they leave no trace is mis informed at best. Reason to not try anything until out of warranty if you want your warranty intact.

Did you not have the Bluespark before the JB4 that threw no errors? Can you clear codes on the 8Y PFL with OBD11 ?

No Just the JB4, I had the prototype for the UK to test, it's how they found out the boost sensor was analogue and not the sent version like in the US.

I found the error clearing on the 8Y 2022 very flakey, did a lot of testing with different software (Odis/VCDS/VagCanPro/OBD11) you cannot really do anything unless you unlock the SFD, but i found VCDS and OBD11 were not 'really' clearing some codes, because when i connected Odis S to the car it was still seeing the errors that were cleared by VCDS.

the best one though was VagCanPro in engineering mode, now that did reset errors, especially the exhaust flaps error generated by fitting the ASR module.

Has that got any easier to use? Used it a bit to sort out the MY16 VCDS stack overflow mess but never got on with it and went back to VCDS when they sorted their life out.

It’s not for everyone, requires knowledge of modules and channels therein, long coding isn’t labelled up, just presented as Hex code.
Adaptions are fairly straightforward but again changes aren’t as straightforward as VCDS etc.
plus it’s a 12 month sub based system too.
