Hi all, my 70 reg 16k mileage A1 automatic is juddering like hell when revved beyond 2000rpm. Warranty expired Oct 2023 so Audi’s ‘two hour diagnostic assessment’ is costing £360 and two days of no car inconvenience :( Any thoughts/ experience of this?

Try a gearbox reset first:

If that doesn't help, when was the last time they serviced the gearbox? if you don't remember it being done, don't go to audi but find a independent Vag specialist and have them do a gearbox oil and filter change.. it'll cost about the same amount as the 360 ex vat audi charges(it's because the oil is crazy expensive) but they usually are way faster and have it done within a few hours. But you'll have to get them to diagnose it first. In my experience (i have a b7 Multitronic) all the automatic gearboxes need their oil and filter changed at a set interval, when it's not done it starts with a judder that doesn't go away when you try the gearbox reset.

Long story short:
1- reset gearbox first - follow the instuctions in the video (it works on all VAG automatic gearboxes)
2- gearbox oil and filter change by an independent garage (or DIY use this howto )
