Can anyone help with the service schedule for the B9 or B9.5 RS 4 please?

It's the additional items I am interested in rather than the routine.

For example are there any gearbox oil changes? I think on the RS the rear diff has a final drive oil and an ATF oil change, but not sure on the mileage etc.

Thanks in advance

In the myaudi app associated with my 4 month old RS 4 Carbon Black I find a list of the additional work along with time due or mileage.

Ah OK, then Colin A's reply is the answer. Note to self, read the question before attempting to answer it.

All the info appreciated.

Has anyone taken the extended warranty via VWFS after the manufacturers warranty expired? If anyone has and doesn't mind sharing costs I am also interested.

As I understand it, B9 is the designated model number. The B9 and indeed B9.5 have the v6 engine built from 2018 while your model from 2014 is a B8 with a 4.2 V8 engine. I don't know what service plans might be available for your car but I had a plan for my last RS4 a V6 and it was better value than paying for individual services. The Audi web site can advise what would be available for your car.

I found this guide to the B8 schedule online which might be of some help :-

Audi Engine Service Schedules: Cars can be run on either type.
  • Fixed Service Schedule – Every 12months or 9000 miles, whichever comes first. This schedule alternates between #1 Oil Service and #2 Inspection Service with Oil Change.
  • Flexible Service Schedule – Every 2 years or 19,000 miles, whichever comes first. This schedule operates only one type of service called an Inspection Service with Oil Change (flexible), which is basically an Inspection Service with Oil Change, but uses an Audi approved long life oil.
These schedules can be changed or swapped at each service interval by Audi if asked to, or changed via VCDS if the Independent/User has such system available. The schedule should be selected based only the cars expected type of usage.
As set out in this document below (click to enlarge).
RS4_ServiceSchedule1.jpgChoosing Service Schedules.

Audi Additional Service Requirements:
  • Front Final Drive: renew gearbox oil – Every 20,000 miles.
  • Cabin interior Dust & Pollen filter – Every 20,000 miles or 2 years. Whichever comes first.
  • Panoramic Roof : check mechanism, clean & grease slides – Every 2 years or 40,000 miles. Whichever comes first.
  • Brake Fluid – First change at 3 years old, there after renew every 2 years.
  • Dual Clutch Gearbox S-Tronic: Replace ATF filter and ATF fluid – Every 40,000 miles.
  • Rear Final Drive : Replace final drive oil – Every 40,000 miles.
  • Rear Final Drive : Replace ATF fluid – Every 40,000 miles.
  • Engine Air Filter : Replace both filters – Every 60,000 miles.
  • Engine Spark Plugs : Replace all 8 – Every 60,000 miles or 6 years. Whichever comes first.
  • Front Brake Discs – Replace at the minimum 32.4mm thickness.
  • Rear Brake Discs – Replace at the minimum 20mm thickness.
  • Front Brake Pads – replace at 10mm (includes backing and damper plate).
  • Rear Brake Pads – replace at 7mm (includes backing and damper plate).
Audi document can be seen online in the owners area in the myaudi app via the Additional Work tab

Or you can view the screen print I have taken below, click it to enlarge:
RS4_ServiceSchedule.jpgAdditional Service Items

Good Servicing Practices:
  • Petrol - Run on super unleaded fuel, wherever possible.
  • Windscreen/Rear wiper blades – Every 2 years or 20,000 miles. Whichever comes first.
  • Air Conditioning : Evacuate system, de-odorise, renew Refrigerant/Oil and re-pressurise – Every 3 Years.
  • Tyres – replace at 3mm depth or 6 years age. Axle and side to side difference, no larger than 2mm. Tyres should be the same type all around.
  • 4 Wheel Alignment - Everytime time tyres are replaced.
  • Keyfob Batteries – Renew every 4 years, Advanced Keyless Entry fob batteries every 2/3 years.
  • Engine Coolant : Concentrate analysed at every Audi Inspection and topped up – Drain and renew every 6 years.
  • DRC Suspension : Evacuate oil, renew and then re-pressurise system - Every 6 years
  • Car Battery – Replace every 6 years.
  • Fuel Filter – Replace every 6 years.
Hope this is of some help

My car is due for service and it shows B9 service due. I know what B means but what is included in “9”? I’m out of warranty on my 2014 model (35 k miles). Would I be better off buying the three pack service (if it still exists) or do it “a’ la carte”? Thanks

As above B9 is just the 2-digit model designation for that generation of A4, every VAG model has a 2-digit designation. The '9' is just the number that comes after 8 :grinning:. A 2014 car should be a B8, very different service needs.

A service pack will always be cheaper but it only covers basic services, anything additional is always on top. You may find different dealers in different bits of the world offer different packages. 3-year package is only of use if you are sure you are keeping the car that long.

Good Servicing Practices:

IMHO the best thing you can do is not leave your oil in the engine for 2 years and service every 'sealed for life' piece of transmission regularly.

This is what I've cobbled together, to make sure mine gets done, B9.5 for me, following the fixed service schedule.

Just out of curiosity mate - did you add the ZF Gearbox Service yourself, as I'm aware Audi claim it's "Lifetime" but we both know this isn't the case lol

Yeah, it's not just the Audi servicing that I'd added to my list, but also stuff I've picked up from elsewhere. I wouldn't take it as gospel, it's just the regime I'm going to follow for mine.
