Hey guys, not been on here for a while,

However I’m hoping a fellow Audi nut can help.

My B8 RS4 has the adaptive headlamp fault on the dash, lights work fine.

Seen online that they can be disabled / coded out - I have access to a Autel diag - can anyone point me in the right direction please on how to disable this so the warning doesn’t show on the dash.

Thanks in advance guys!

Until you know what the fault is, there's no point coding anything, log the car to see what it says, could be a level sensor on an axle.

Are you sure the adaptive bulb hasn't blown? That is normally the reason for the error message.

Thanks guy. I will be be getting it scanned at local garage tomorrow.

Il share my findings.

Just getting into the b8 ownership - there’ll be plenty of my “how to” posts coming

Hi guys, got the car scanned came up with “Left stationary AFS - open circuit”

Any ideas what this relates to?

It was cleared and hasn’t come on - yet!

Have you checked the bulb, it's not the same as the headlight main/dip beam.

The turning light bulb is blown (hence open circuit). It’s located on the radiator grille side of the headlamp and points across the front of the headlight. Neither will work until you replace the bulb and clear the code. Probably best to change them both as the other may also be on the way out.

Holy thread resurrection....(!) I have this error on my 2014 B8.5 Allroad, coincidentally also the left-hand headlight, and with the same error message shown in post #5 above when scanning with OBD Eleven. I can use that same device to clear the fault, but it returns as soon as I steer left. My car has xenon headlights - do these have a separate inboard bulb as described above, or is that only for halogen lights? If so, which type of bulb am I shopping for, please? H5W or something else?

You need to change the bulb or the error will return.

I changed both D3S bulbs recently, as one had died; the adaptive headlight fault appeared at the same time. I naively thought the adaptive lights were the xenon projectors physically swivelling left and right, not realising they also had an H7 halogen for that feature. Could it be that a xenon bulb out somehow overloaded the adaptive light and caused it to blow, or just an unfortunate coincidence?

Anyhow, I've just ordered up a pair on Osram Nightbreaker Xenarc 220 H7s, to match the D3Ss I fitted, so hopefully that will be that. The MOT is due in a couple of weeks and I'm wary that an over-zealous tester may advise or even fail the car for the warning light on the dash, even though the headlights themselves function in all usual respects.

Adaptive Xenon’s (factory option) do move left and right (and up and down..) this is the turning light when the steering is turned at slow speeds. Another bulb comes on for enhanced vision. Some other cars, such as VWs, turn one of the fog lights on.

I changed my LH bulb in December but didn’t bother changing the RH one which failed 6 weeks later… a double round of scratched knuckles
