So forgive me guys if this looks like a botch job but I have been on a few test drives and shes as quiet as a mouse whilst in COD (2 Cylinder) mode.

I took the car to Audi and they put thermal grease on the both ends of the turbo actuator rod, this didn't work.

I know its this rod that is rattling when in 2 cylinder mode so I thought, how to stop it.

Anyway just after Christmas we was throwing away a outdoor Christmas tree which the storm had wrecked and noticed the little springs keeping the string leds tight.

I kept them as I came up with an idea of how to keep the actuator rod tight so not to rattle but free enough so it worked as it should.

Anyway this is what I did......

UPDATE - So I have been driving and testing and this has completely fixed this issue. So many people complain about the 2 cylinder rattle on the 1.4 COD engines.

This mod is still holding up and I cannot believe a simple fix has cured it,

At this Speed and Revs is the sweet spot that normally you could hear it rattle but its completely silent.

It sounds like you’ve come up with a creative DIY fix for the turbo actuator rod rattle in COD mode! If the small springs from the Christmas tree help keep the rod tight while allowing proper movement, that’s an interesting approach. How has it held up so far in daily driving? Any noticeable improvements in performance or longevity concerns?
Hello !!! Yes this has worked perfectly. A few months ago I started to hear the dreaded cod mode noise and looked and one of the springs had worn and snapped, replacing it soon stopped the noise. other than that its not caused any issues at all and allowed me to drive my car with the windows down
