My 65 Plate RS3 was insured with a well-known specialist broker in Jan 22 and renewed in Jan 23 for just over £600. In Nov 23 I swapped it for a 67 FL model and paid a small increment to cover the last 2 months of the policy. I was warned that the new car premium would be around £870 come annual renewal this month. When I got the renewal proposal, this had gone up to £1067! So an increase of £400 on last year. Not impressed.
I asked another broker for a quote and the price was going to be around £870. Still not impressed, so I started shopping around the mainstream companies. Quickly had a quote from Saga with same terms and conditions, but bonus of unlimited EU cover (which is helpful for me, rather than one trip of max 90days), no windscreen replacement excess and vandalism claims not affecting NCD for £770.
Still expensive, but in the context of massive increases across the market I'm happy with the outcome.
