Boot only opening with the button on key fob (8PA facelift)

Hi everyone, I'm sure this has been gone over before but my boot will not open with the boot switch/handle. The boot latch will unlock everytime with the button on the key fob though which tells me the actual boot lock/latch isn't sticking and works fine.

1 in 20 pushes of the boot handle/switch the latch will pop and the boot will open. Could this mean it's a faulty boot handle/switch and should there be a metal rod connecting the switch to the boot handle?

What's your opinions? Thanks

When you press the boot button can you hear the motor each time, if not then it's probably a faulty microswitch, possibly water damaged from wiper motor.
