Hey guys,

Been lurking here for a while and time came I actually posted something.

I am looking to add bluetooth connectivity to my 2010 2.0 TDI A3 8P, basically I have the Audi Concert system and would like to have a module that plugs in to the CD changer slot (this also seems the common choice from what I’ve read).

However I am curious about my steering wheel controls, the right scroll wheel always works as volume control (and does so on AUX input too). But does anyone know if it is possible to use the left scroll wheel to change tracks and if so which module would be required?

Less importantly I wonder if it then is possible to display track name and stuff on the screen in the gauge cluster and om the headunit. But as mentioned that bit doesn’t really matter to me as much.

I probably said a bunch of unnecessary obvious stuff and missed some important details so feel free to correct me (I’m a noob bear with me (,: )

Kind regards from Holland

ive used the cheap bluetooth modules that connect to the back of the unit on an 8j tt, it didnt allow track changing from the unit or the steering wheel.

connects2 CTAADBT004 looks like it will allow you to track skip using the unit and steering wheel.

neither option will show track name on the dash or radio.

however its £90. at that price, id consider going for an aftermarket radio. my xtrons was about £200, and has wireless carplay, bluetooth etc etc, with an 8" touchscreen. not even comparable imo.

I get what you’re saying and have thought about an aftermarket headunit, CarPlay and all would be a nice feature to have. Although that leaves me with a few concerns of its own;

- Audio quality, my car has the OEM Audi Concert system, how can I ensure equal audi quality when deciding on a headunit?

- Steering wheel controls (again), will they work plug and play with (some) aftermarket headunits? If not does anyone have further knowledge on the required modifications to make this work?

I’m definitely not willing to sacrifice the scroll wheels (other buttons aren’t that important, see MODE and Voice Control).

I’d rather stick with the original headunit than sacrifice my steering wheel volume control (and am hoping to add track skip as mentioned).

Thanks again for your reply, I do think an aftermarket unit is a great option if it all hooks up properly!

late reply, but the android units with dsp have really good sound quality. you could also amp the speakers, something like a plug and play vibe powerbox 65.4 to power the front speakers if you wanted. personally im happy with the sq of my unit.

steering controls work fine. the android units for the audi units come with a canbus decoder that retains your swc.

I picked up a bluemusic Bluetooth adaptor. Super simple to fit, great sound quality, can control the bt device with the physical controls.

It won't display names on the dash though. It will just say track 1 and infinitely count up in time (unless you skip a track, then it will be on track 2, 3, or whatever forever until you skip again).
