Whine from rear diff[emoji2363]

Hi guys. The A7’s been playing up this year. 3.0tdi 272 with 73000 miles on a 64 plate
New issue is a whine coming from the rear diff at over 40mph.
Asked Audi the have a look at it, while it was in for service. And the tech confirmed it’s the diff, they checked the oil and said there’s on metal in it. And also checked the outside saying it’s all fine, saying that a bearing inside must have gone bad.

New rear diff from Audi is £6500 + vat
And the don’t even sell any internal parts separately

So it’s looking like I need to hunt down a new used rear diff

The main seal from the prop shaft side has been leaking, which caused low oil in the diff and causing the bearing to over heat and fail. So looking for a used rear diff.

Brought a used diff from a breakers, it came off 2016 A6 3.0tdi with 35k on the clock. And got my garage to fit it. So all is good for now
