Hi all, I have a fault with my 8P A3. It's a 2008 model 1.6 petrol engine. Some times when I start the car, it idles very rough and the EPC and ESP lights come on. If I press the accelerator, the revs barely go up. If I switch the car off and switch it back on, the lights disappear and the car goes back to normal. One time when it was idling rough, the engine couldn't hold revs and just switched off.
Today I started the car, same thing happened again, rough idle with EPC and ESP light on, this time however, the engine management light also came on. When I switched the car off and back on again, the EPC and ESP lights were off but the engine management light stayed on and the car sounded and ran normal.
After this, I read up that it might be related to the fuel pump relay. So I opened up the relay and fuse box in the engine bay, removed both relays and put them back in. Started up, no lights, no rough idle and everything was normal. Took it for a drive and car was responsive and everything seemed normal.
A week ago when the fault first appeared, I took it to my local garage. They had a look and said everything seemed fine and there was no faults appearing when they checked the OBD reader.
As this appears to be an intermittent issue, I have a feeling it will come back. Anyone faced this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
