Hello guys,

I recently noticed that I have some wetness in the right boot compartment. There is some insulating foam placed at the bottom there, and it was wet to the touch, not soaked but enough to get me worried.

All it could do so far was press some paper towels into the foam there to absorb the moisture, but I am wondering where its coming from. I don't see any obvious leak sources.

I know that the loom in this area is known to corrode due to moisture, and its well documented here and my own case here

Could it be the vent just above the loom? It should be closed normally and the flaps should open only when the boot lid is closed to let the air out and prevent an air cushion forming I guess? The thing is the vent is covered by a "hood" that has foam inside and that foam is dry.

There is an exact same vent on the other side, but the left is completely dry.

I'd appreciate if someone else could check if its similar in their car and its a "feature" or if there is an issue with my car.

Check the boot rubber to make sure it's not fitted badly, check the lights fittings & get a hose & soak the areas & place towels over top of electronics to protect beforehand. Ideally somebody in the boot with a torch would help whilst you're doing.

if it was the main boot lid seal, i'd see water in other places, but its just the right side compartment. maybe its getting in through the lights, or that vent, or some other place i am not aware of. thanks for the input though

I found this thread about it with some more ideas
