Just purchased a S3 8P with 80k miles on the clock for dirt cheap, it has not a single bit or service history with it. was wondering if there is a easy way to remove the timing cover to inspect the belt? to get an idea if it maybe has had a new belt etc in the past ? thanks! 2011 plate

I'd just replace it tbh, no history so it's a risk.

Could call a dealer & ask for the history.

Best just change it and get the chain tensioner done at the same time

Sorry to hijack, but im looking to replace mine too. Question is, what is the full suggested job replacements? I've read so far the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, does the 8PA have a timing chain?

All S3 8P EA113 - belt

A3 8P up to 2008 EA113, 2008 onwards EA888 - chain

Edit: ea113 belt, and chain cam to cam
ea888 chain and chain cam to cam
