Hello
I was planning on changing my front disc and pads but the 2 bolts (21mm) on the caliper bracket on the back were really tight
I’m going to buy some penetration spray and a breaker bar to help but am I right in thinking passenger side push down and driver side push up to loosen?

If we're taking the big caliper bolts, well it's as usual clockwise to tighten & anti to undo afaik, just wd40 the bolts, leave for 10 & get a tube or something on the end of the ratchet for leverage, as it's a fair bit of tightness, you need to torque them up properly as they need about 200nm or around that, look online to confirm require torque.

Because the heads of the bolts on brakes are usually facing away from you (you are looking from outside the car and the heads are facing inside the car), its the opposite of the usual. so clockwise to undo them

This is making a simple thing harder than necessary tbh, always talking from the sense of direction of the socket used to undo & as though you were facing the bolt head, the bolts are clockwise to tighten & anti to undo, this is common sense tbh except on very few & special situations where the bolts on specific applications are reverse threads so to speak.

Yes they are standard bolts and its common knowledge, but every time I'm doing brakes I stop and think which way it should go, since the bolts are facing away from me. (I don't have a lift to be able to stand under the car and face the bolt heads)

Given how the initial question was asked, it seemed the person is inexperienced, so i thought its worth sharing.

I can see your pov, but I think it just adds more confusion, but they've got plenty of data from us both now to handle it as required.
