Hey Chris

Say thanks for sharing…Similarly I also purchased a spare alloy and keep it in the boot, but it does take up most of boot area.
Although unsure how this would upset the Haldex system..? As it states all 4 tyres should be same tread pattern width etc.. But maybe it would be ok for a short duration, in order till you reach a tyre centre.?

Great info.
125/70R19 represents 658 mm diameter
235/35R19 represents 647 mm diameter
Hence there is a 11 mm difference between the 2 ie 5 mm radius difference. Looks big.

However as per this post, S3 spare wheel is 125/70R18 ie 632 mm hence -15 mm difference....

Unless the tyres are of the same size and type any 'spare' is restricted to 50mph so should be fine for the haldex for a short time to get to a tyre place. Other VW Haldex cars do the same from the factory.

Mostly I keep full size spares at home bank on getting recovered if the foam doesnt work. If I am doing a particular trip, I put one in the boot.

I find the full size not that much of a problem if you upturn it and fill the centre. I have an OEM jack kit that does that so saves space for a separate kit in the boot.

I do have a regular 125 spare (with a view to a double swap if it is the front) but rarely use it in place of the full size.
