Drivers door wont close in sub-zero temperature

As the title of this thread states driver door on the A3 8L opens fine but the catching mechanism is reluctant to engage in frosty cold minus conditions, I have tried wd40, etc only seemed to make the issue worse I then had to wait for the car to warm up to get the door closed most inconvenient, to say the least, has anyone else experienced this issue obviously had a google and forum search locks appear clean with no other issue in normal temps any information would be appreciated thanks in advance @MPH

I haven’t experienced this but next time try spraying some de-icer inside the catch mechanism?
