Hi. Last summer my EGR cooler cracked resulting in coolant slowly being burned off. I replaced this with a brand new unit. Today while driving I hit limp mode and after checking with VCDS I have code P0403 EGR malfunction.
I have checked all connections and nothing seems out of the ordinary. The EGR fails the readiness test on VCDS. it seems I can drive for a few miles until I get a hiccup in power and limp mode arrives.
The light does not go out with an ignition cycle, but the light will stay out after clearing the code and will return when the engine cools down.
I've tried testing the solenoid using VCDS but I can't see the solenoid moving at all. Please bare in mind this is with the engine off. I new to VCDS, does the engine need to be running to check this?
