Good afternoon all

I have a ‘17 plate Audi A3 Saloon and recently there has been a creak from the area that the drivers seat belt comes out of, it’s a light grey colour and has a texture effect from the roofline to to in line with the bottom of the window, (not the fitting that is adjustable in height). If I push on it several times it keeps creaks but eventually it stops making the noise. When the car is next used it creaks again, It’s really annoying as it’s right near your ear.

I’m wondering if anyone has any advice to stop this? Can this piece of trim be removed and re-seated? I’ve taken a picture although it’s not the best as the sun was hitting the camera. I’d appreciate any help.

Regards
T

There are U-clips that fasten that particular trim piece to the car. Sometimes they can break loose (for me at least) and you can try to push down on those sections of the trim that have the U-clips attached and see if the creaking goes way.

That whole trim piece is almost complete plastic so it makes for quite an annoying experience...

Thanks for the reply. Do u think it’s worth / possible to pop it off and re position it or will it break the clips?

Yea it is very easy to do. You are better off breaking the trim below the piece you are talking about off first. It becomes easier because instead of going at it from the side you can do it from the bottom.

You can still remove the piece you are talking about from the side it just ends up being an awkward position and you may get the idea that you are breaking something.

As long as you have plastic removal tools you are good to go. I have taken that piece off multiple times with 0 problem. Just be mindful of the piece ABOVE the piece you are talking about. If you pull that with 0 care there is a chance you can damage the plastic seatbelt guider mechanism like I did lol.
