Ive got a Audi S3 8v (2016) and a tight hairpin driveway at a 40/50 degree incline, Holding on the brakes firmly and giving it gas then very slowly letting off the brake will rev the car up then roll back until i hit the brakes or floor it which spins the tires to the point im doing a burnout (haldex is broken)
I havent had a accident with this yet but ive got a nervous feeling i will with how close i get to the edge of my driveway
It might have something to do with the fact my haldex oil hasnt been changed since factory but im unsure
Although my 2009 Audi A6 will haul *** up my driveway no questions asked (O.G Quattro :yahoo:)

If you roll back, then either you don't have hill hold or it has a fault, which if haldex is faulty as you've eluded, will potentially affect features working.

Are you trusting the system or trying to manually release the handbrake with the switch before trying to set off?
I've never had a problem on any steep incline using the auto handbrake release or if the car is hydraulic braking with Hold Assist activated. If you are talking Hill Hold (which is fitted as standard), this should hold the footbrake after releasing the pedal on an upward slope for a number of seconds or until you set off. The handbrake should auto release anyway.
The system has always worked flawlessly for me (unless the door hasn't been shut properly). The only time I touch the handbrake switch is if someone has been working on the car and they invariably switch the auto lights and Hold Assist off.

I also have a steep drive way, which i always reverse onto. When moving off the driveway I always manually release the handbrake (foot on the foot brake and flip the handbrake off) this for me causes hill hold assist to kick in and i can move off the drive without rolling back. Never had any issues doing it this way.

Hill Hold/Hold Assist will work facing up or downhill as well as on the flat & is a great option. I've never had any issues with it but do occasionally turn it off when parking on my steep drive which I do facing downhill. This allows me to roll a tiny amount more which I control on the brake pedal.
