do you have any footage to prove this? would be good if they did, but some of the bigger models have a longer animation would mean thier lights dont come on as quick while drivingThey actually do activate with an animation while you are driving.
I don't think that I do, I don't have any other experience with matrix other than my A3, but in my car whenever I enter no lights zone (where matrix high beam activate) I get this little "opening curtain" animation.do you have any footage to prove this? would be good if they did, but some of the bigger models have a longer animation would mean thier lights dont come on as quick while driving![]()
i dont mean the assisted high beam ive seen that working on the dark country roads, i mean the front and rear light dance like this
i dont think it will do all that if they came on while driving but i dont know for sure, would be cool if it did tho
I have a OBD eleven but it doesn't have the RS animation code for real lights yet, anyone know how to do it? Long coding? That'd be very neat to have on the A3 S line
;-) I got on s3
would like this over the standard edition 1 animation, how do you go about getting it done?
You might be better (and a lot less expensive) settling for highbeam assist which you can get through FOD.I have recently picked up my new Audi A3 S-line 8Y in Navarra Blue. The car has the LED headlights fitted but I would like to switch these for the upgraded Matrix LED headlights.
Does anyone have any knowledge/information around whether it is possible to retrofit these Matrix LED headlights?

You're right, in addition I can clarify that the hazard lights are animated as well.I’m pretty sure that does not happen if they come on whilst driving. For starters, those are called something like arriving / leaving home animations.
That said, the indicators are always animated (except maybe when used as hazard lights?) as Audi say that the animation provides an additional indication of the orientation of the car. And, as mentioned above, the main beams use a curtain opening/closing animation when switching on and off, though this would not be particularly noticeable to someone outside the car.
Hi @Mastachaz can you message me the tool you used.. and would this work on an a3 2015 sportback s line??Drop.me.pm
;-) I got on s3
I thinknbe same.as 8V need special connectorsWoW mastachaz that looks well nice, awesome
Has anyone yet upgraded the standard sport/techniq basic leds/halogen headlights to the s line led headlights? Any advice or suggestions?
odb 11 got this fixed on the latest mmi software?![]()
RS Taillight Animation on A3/S3

I have same build as yours. Did you figure out how to keep the matrix lights active all the time. I have to manually activate(pushing the stalk forward) it every time I get into the car, latest mmi software installed.Typo mistake should have said May 21 but like you say must of changed in that time.
I have the matrix lights on a vorsprung but I don’t understand what you are activating? Mine are set to auto so come on as needed. What are you turning on? Sorry if this is a dumb question just trying to fathom if I’m missing something. High beam assist works automatically on mine when needed.I have same build as yours. you have the diagram for the basic reflector led headlights? (just curious)If you look at the attached diagrams they are almost the same apart from the matrix light for lighting certain sections of the road and the signature day time running light
Don’t you have a button on the RH side, next to your door, for the lights, that allows you to set the lights on auto?Yours must be a later build. On the earlier builds, mines around May /June 21 you have to activate the matrix function when you first start driving with the lights on by pushing the LH stack forward. This then brings on the auto function for the matrix lights.
The Auto button allows the headlights to come on automatically depending on the ambient lighting condition. Pushing the left hand stake forward either activates the main beam or if you have main beam assistance it will switch the main beams on and off automatically Again depending on the lighting conditions. if you have matrix leds then it turns individual segments on or off instead To maintain illumination without dazzling oncoming driversDon’t you have a button on the RH side, next to your door, for the lights, that allows you to set the lights on auto?
The only pain is that I need to push stalk every time to activate it.The Auto button allows the headlights to come on automatically depending on the ambient lighting condition. All you need to do is to just leave it pushed forwards so that auto is displayed above the main beam warning light. - auto settings will work in the background and work when the lighting conditions are appropriate. Setting is retained even if you turn the ignition off.The only pain is that I need to push stalk every time to activate it.

If you want to override then push the stalk forward again and the main beams will revert to “manual“ mode. Push forward again for automotive pull back for off
That's on the later builds - I have Matrix on my 70 Plate S3 and like St Michael you have to push the stalk forward and activate the Auto for the Matrix - they then do their thing but as soon as you recycle the ignition the Auto goes - Nothing to do with the Auto lights switchAs @Frizzley says.
Yep! Earlier models don’t retain the setting newer ones do.That's on the later builds - I have Matrix on my 70 Plate S3 and like St Michael you have to push the stalk forward and activate the Auto for the Matrix - they then do their thing but as soon as you recycle the ignition the Auto goes - Nothing to do with the Auto lights switch
A few people have said they don't have to do this so later models 22 model year I suspect remembers the setting but mine definitely doesn't and I've had software updates done - You'd think it would be an easy fix to be honest but that's Audi for you
Whilst I’m assuming that this is going to be a minority view, I quite like the fact that the Matrix Function is reset by cycling the ignition, as there are some journeys when I can do without it (and, whilst the high beam LEDs should last the lifetime of the car, like any other high power LED, I’m guessing that they will dim over years of use, so I reckon it’s best not to use them unnecessarily if planning to keep the car for a long time).Yep! Earlier models don’t retain the setting newer ones do.
Surreal- have either owned or driven several different models across different model years (both earlier and later) and they have all worked the same, retaining the settings. Strange Audi dropped this functionality unless they were having to cut a few corners to get the cars outThat's on the later builds - I have Matrix on my 70 Plate S3 and like St Michael you have to push the stalk forward and activate the Auto for the Matrix - they then do their thing but as soon as you recycle the ignition the Auto goes - Nothing to do with the Auto lights switch

That’s stupid!Yep! Earlier models don’t retain the setting newer ones do.
Agree, my previous Q3 retained the settings.Surreal- have either owned or driven several different models across different model years (both earlier and later) and they have all worked the same, retaining the settings. ODBEleven can helpODBEleven ? or something else as I would like to get that done on my S3
on my car they are auto until you put them offYou can enable a function with OBD11 that keeps short memory, let's say, for about 20 min. So if you turn ign off with matrix set to AUTO, they stay like that. But if you pick your car after 1 hour they're OFF again.
Module 09, Adaptation, Fernlicht_assistent- Fernlichtassistent Reset - set from active to inactive.
This is the behaviour for cars built 2021 > ...on my car they are auto until you put them off
