RS3 Build Tracker Spreadsheet

Couple of boats currently in Emden due to leave for Sheerness soon.
  • Parana
due to dock in Sheerness at 0800 tomorrow (19/02)
  • Seine Highway
due to dock in Sheerness at 0100 on 20/02
Both of these two ships are still in Emden, I cant help thinking it will be something to do with the vehicle fire on the Felicity Ace, for the VW group to lose £200,000,000 worth of cars (estimate 4000 cars @£50k average) and somebody else's ship is 'unlucky'', but, if they were to lose another ship full of cars the following week that would be a little reckless/careless to say the least.

I imagine there will be a complete overload of Risk assessments and method statements being both looked at very criticaly and re written for future sailings

From what I have read the Steveadors load the cars and disconnect the batteries, I cant help thinking the fire 'probably' started with an EV battery pack

^ There will probably be a stop on all future sailings until the VW Group knows how the fire started and how they can prevent it going forward, it's just Health and Safety in modern times.

Also I imagine from the Ships owners and their insurance company something like ''No more VW group cars will be transported until we have assurances it will not happen again and investigations carried out as to what happened''

it's not going to help the wait times in the UK though :(

Do you have a dashcam in mind? Thinking of upgrading my old one...
I have an Anker Roav C1 I bought about 3-4 years ago (from Amazon). Very happy with it, does the job. Some of the new Blackvue ones look good but this one works just fine so I moved it over from the Golf. Got it installed yesterday afternoon, wriring runs across the top of the windscreen (tucked in to headliner), then down the A pillar, across the bottom of the glovebox, down the centre console, and to a 12V-to-USB thing in the rear seat's socket to keep it out of the way.

I also have a Mini 0805 of similar age which I'll probably install in the back window (it was in the back of the Golf), but I first need to work out the wiring route and then buy a suitable length USB cable, since I didn't bother unpicking the wiring from the Golf before trading it in (cost of new USB cable is less than the value of my time, I reasoned ;) ).

Hoping I just got lucky as I was swithering on pushing the button on a car that would be arriving in Dec 22 to then get a call saying someone had just cancelled.

Yeh, haven't seen one in Aberdeen or the North East as yet!
That's my car (Vorsprung SB) now ready for pick up first few days in March. I wouldn't read into the time it took for me to get mine from ordering to delivery as it was a cancelled order. It does show that orders that are cancelled can be reassigned to new buyers. I was worried after reading some comments on here my order would then get cancelled!

Holy cow! When did that happen?

Wednesday Morning I believe, they are thinking the fire probably started in an EV, I think I picked up ID4 from various reports.
I wonder how the insurance works out?

The ship owners obviously insure the 'load' against damage caused by the ship sinking (as and eg:) but it appears in this case the ship is written off by faulty cargo

Whatever, I feel there will be 'knock on' effect, at least until the root cause has been investigated and things put in place to mitigate against it happening again

What Captain and crew would be prepared to set sail with a similar batch of cars now?

PS: I'll just add that the two vehicle carriers that were held at Emden have now sailed, one for Grimsby and one for Sheerness :)

Cheers Mike! What a nightmare. On another note, how on earth are you able to track ships leaving Emden? Is that the port that Audi sends its cars to the UK from?

Just do a search for 'Emden Port departures' and 'vessel finder' or 'Marine Traffic' web sites will pop up and go from there. You can list the ships in Port with a description of what they are, most ships with Highway (Neckar/Siene Highway (all Rivers)) and some other Ships as well are commonly used by the VW Group

I think a lot of manufacturers use Emden to ship to the UK, the 'City of StPetersburg' has just left and is on route to Grimsby, although that ship was made for Nissan, but who knows whats on it :)

If you Google Earth Emden you will be shocked by the mass of car parks around the Port

Good morning all, Sunday Update. (bit late today)
Summary of what has been delivered on the obs tab on the spreadsheet.
Advised of Tango Red (Carbon) end of last week, may be a hint of next batch run, lets wait this week, for more confirmation of build to our members.
Congratulations: 1st Vorsprung picked up by @JamesOff, @Bigtastey picking up his TangoRed next Tuesday. Please continue to advise when the car is collected, to give an indication of order to collect duration.

Hope the remains of the 1st batch and the 2nd batch are on UK soil.

If any members wish to be added and be visible to the RS3 order spreadsheet below, please advise me with Date of order, Body Type, Colour of car, Estimated Build week and Factory Order number.
Estimated build week, is normally given, once the order has been accepted by the factory order system, usually a week after, if allocated.
Factory Order number: will begin with 32 for orders placed in 2022. (Just need the first 5 digits of the order) to keep it anonymous. eg.. 32037

Base on autotrader there is all.models and colors already in uk.

I do have a peek once in a while, Sportsback versions of the colour are quite limited. Tango Red was missing when Carbon batch was being made, luckily appeared on Vorsprung.
Similarly, Daytona Grey appeared in Carbon and not at all during Vorsprung batch run.
In both batches, its quite rare for sportsback bodies. Lets see over then next few weeks.

I'm taking that one at Crewe with a pinch of salt until I see pictures. Not that I don't believe that it exists but wondering how long it'll be until it actually there in case they've put it up for sale before it's even landed.

29 miles on the clock and you'd be the 2nd owner and £73k! Will be sat there a while imho.

Had an update today mine is showing "on ship"

Vorsprung saloon
I have a feeling mine should be 'on ship' as well, unfortunately all the ships UK bound are messing about 'sheltering' from the storm going up and down the East coast

There are 3 doing this a the moment, 2 Grimsby bound and 1 for Sheerness

Recent ship track

It certainly looks like the spreadsheet is starting to move towards quite a few more cars being either in transit or due to be collected. In fairness though they all seem to be Aug/Sept orders so approx wait time is 6-7 months which seems normal at the moment. Land Rover are quoting 12-14 months and BMW well that is all over the place.

Various sources say 12m+ for RS3 if you order now too. Will be interesting to see if the average duration for older orders is as you say.

Dealer update this morning confirmed car still showing as On Ship. All of their cars come in through Grimsby, so the only ship to leave Emden over the weekend for Grimsby was the 'Main Highway'. It's been up and down the coast of Norfolk all night presumably waiting for better weather to dock but it's heading back now and due to dock for 6pm tonight.

Good spot although I think that's a Nissan vessel.

No. Tracking updates can only come from your Audi Center/Salesman
