Hi,
My 2008 1.4 tfsi started to cut out while accelerating. It starts well and idles well. At 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear I can accelerate hard and there is no issue. However, while accelerating hard on 4th and 5th gear engine cuts out around 5000 rpm and it stops accelerating, it takes a few seconds to rev again but it starts to cut out around 5000 rpm once more. My coils and spark plugs are new. Car has around 150000 mile mileage. What can be the issue?
Thanks in advance;
Kind regards

Assuming there is no engine light coming up I’d look at getting it scanned and check if there are any fault codes which may indicate what’s happening. Could potentially be a weak fuel pump at your quoted mileage and it’s not able to keep up with the fuel demand at the higher rpm/load.

Thank you for the response. There is no engine light. I can cruise with no problem. Which fuel pump would cause this problem in your opinion? HPFP or LPFP

I’m not massively familiar with the HPFP and LPFP setup….. this is something you’ll have to look into. I’d imagine low pressure as this will be used to give the additional flow in higher rpms where as high pressure is used for the lower rpms. I could be wrong but that’s my understanding of it.

Other members will step in with 1.4 tfsi specific info but it gives you something till they step in with more knowledge of your engine than I have.
hope it helps
