Hi All

Just wanted to pick your brains really and gauge the opinion ..

My A4 Avant TDI 190 (16 plate) stepped over the 5 year old mark yesterday and as such all of the local dealerships started rubbing their mitts together and leaving me voicemails about Cambelt/Waterpump replacements.

The car has just clocked over 40k and I have been working from home since Feb 20' so not doing a lot of driving at the moment. I am happy to get the work done but just wondered whether people think I should be doing this immediately or wait for a few months as the car is only really moving once a week?

Cheers all.

40k isnt allot, its personal preference tbh, but for me I'd probably leave for a fair few k tbh.

We had this in 2018 with the wife’s GTD (Cuna 184 engine). Lower mileage if my memory serves than 40k but it was coming to 5 year old.

In the end I bit the bullet and changed the lot myself, more for piece of mind rather than the £250 plus in parts to do it.

135k miles or 5 years is what Audi uk say.

mine has done 85k in just over 2.5 years.

was considering cam belt change at 80k as I thought that was the traditional change time.

Audi don’t specify a time limit in certain countries, take what you will from that.

I probably won’t bother and sell the car next year.
If your keeping your car long term, and I was in your position, I’d change it after another year or two or at 80k.

Interesting comments much appreciated.

Year 3 of PCP is up in December so If I can avoid it I think I might just do so :)

Audi Dealership Cambelt/Waterpump £745 / Local Garage Cambelt/Waterpump £776 .. I didnt expect Audi to come out cheaper.

Are you supposed to change the water pump with the Cambelt in all situations, or only if you got one of those crappy plastic water pumps (as my old Golf had) rather than the metal one?
