Hi guys, I'm happy to say I've just became an owner of my first turbo car (1998 Mk4 GTI), it has an AGU engine thats why I'm posting on an Audi forum (same engine as the A3).

I've done some research all over forums for what to do to get more power. I'm aiming for over 200 ill be happy with 215 to 225 hp.

I've learned the AGU has the ko3, the lesser turbo, and apparently an AGU swapped with a ko3s from an AUM is the way to go.

First mods ill be doing include;
- 3" decat downpipe (might aswell as the current downpipe is damaged)
- Ramair cone filter (ive had Ramair in all my cars)
- ko3s turbo
- remap

With the above mods what can I realistically expect from a remap. I've learned that the AGU is harder to map due to having a worse ECU than an AUM or something along them lines lol. What does this mean for my goals of 225 ish hp, and what about more than that?

Is 2 step mappable into an AGU ECU, would like to have that feature.

The cars on 106k miles and has been maintained regularly.

If these mods won't take me to the 225 region then what would it take and who could tune an AGU for me?

The problems you have with the AGU is the ECU . It's a Motronic 3.8.3 with a cable throttle as opposed to the vast majority of 1.8T's that are Motronic ME7.X . With the older ECU you cannot flash it with an OBD cable so the ECU needs to be removed and the EEPROM chip taken out and reflashed then put back in. There are very few tuners that deal with these today. Everything just takes so much longer. Depending on how capable you are you can upgrade the ECU by replacing the throttle pedal, throttle body and wiring harness on the car.
Where are you in the country?

I think my best bets upgrading to me7.x.

If I did the upgrade would it make my car as easily remappable an an AUM for example?

Also would a standalone ecu be possible on an AGU or is it better to just go to me.7.x

Exactly what parts would I need for this and could you give a quick rundown of what I'll need to do to upgrade the ecu. Thanks.
