Hi

I currently own a Manual '17 S3 8V and am looking into a Res delete to enhance the exhaust sound from the vehicle. Basically I'm hoping for more 'pops and bangs' whilst the car is in Dynamic mode, and for the exhaust sound to remain relatively inoffensive/stock whilst in Eco/Comfort modes.

Has anyone had a Res delete carried out on a Manual S3 and can shed any light on the above? I'm hoping a res delete would achieve this but would be keen to hear from anyone who's had this mod done to their S3.

Cheers,

I believe a few have the Power valve BCS. There may be a new version now. If I remember rightly it has the least drone. Im sure someone will be along soon to confirm. Dont really get pops and bangs out of the manuals. Autos have a gearchange pop. Only real way is to get it mapped in to the car. But it can mess up the CAT.

Yeah from searching previous posts it seems the BCS is the way to go. I think that’s what I’d go for if I was having it done to limit drone etc. All depends if it’s worth doing on a manual S3 however, and if the ‘pops’ can be limited within the different driving modes of the car. Don’t want the neighbours complaining lol.

Had mine done to my old S3 (sold now) but it sounded so much better, mine was automatic as most are though. Deeper tone and crackles on the overrun and downshift (don’t know how these work in manual).

I opted for the BCS Anti-Drone pipe, they are more expensive than standard res pipes but I wanted to minimise any potential drone. It didn’t drone, but it was noticeably louder at higher speeds if you accelerated in a higher gear. Hard to explain, wouldn’t say it was drone as such but just a bit ‘boomier’, was totally fine and didn’t bother me just sounded different to OEM. Cruising speeds it was fine.

Put it this way when I put the car back to stock before selling I hated driving it around for a week, sounded like a hoover :tearsofjoy: Mine was pre-GPF for reference.

Do people have any problems after fitting a res delete with eml coming on the dash board or any other probs as considering doing this

Nah no issues with that as you aren’t messing with the CATs, mine passed an MOT with it fitted too, no issues raised.

I have a delete pipe fitted to my S tronic, no extra pops and bangs but a much deeper tone, sounds how it should in terms of deepness and loudness, but does need more pops and crackles:) mine is a 6 speed and I dont get drone so no real need for the BCS, but your 7 speed should be even more forgiving at motorway speeds. I was nervous about drone sounds and worried I should have gone for an aniti drone pipe but glad I didnt waste the extra cash now.
