Hi all,

does anyone know if there is, somewhere on the car, a sticker (like for the paint, spec codes etc) which tells you what kind of fabric your seats are made of?

I was thinking of having my driver's side seat bolster foam replaced and re-upholstered but would like to use the correct, matching fabric.

In case it can be told from this scant info, it's a 2001 8L A3 5door 1.9tdi in dark blue.

Also, is there a way to know what 'spec' level an older car has, and what they're specced with? In the way that with, say, Skodas there is Classic, Ambiente, Elegance, L&K etc etc

I realised my car has extremely good quality sound and a subwoofer in the boot and wondered if that was normal kit or something special

In your boot, lift up the carpet and there should be a paper sticker with the vehicle option codes on the left side. They look like lots of three digit codes like: “1L6” etc...

You can try cross referencing them with the VAG codes on certain websites like this one: http://vag-codes.info/files/options/vag-option-codes.pdf

One of the codes might relate to the interior trim options. Try uploading a photo too. There’s some knowledgeable peeps on this forum.

P.S If the sticker in the boot is missing or ineligible, the same sticker should be present on the inside cover of the service book (if it’s the original).
