Yes they have arrived . Intermittent but they are here.
Oil and coolant levels fine .
Oil changed December . K&N filter.

So my thoughts are oil sump pickup. From searching around here and the YouTube, seems to be pretty common. I am thinking if the screen looks complete ,no holes just clean and replace. Doesn't look like brain surgery. Oil and filter .clean pan and block, RTV.
Checking the oil pump? Things to look for on a visual inspection?
I am on a tight budget with the way things are these days (daze?).

Thoughts ,experiences, tips all appreciated.

Have a great day too!

I got this right after an oil change. In the end I needed a new oil pump as the original was old/tired. Clean out the sump and pickup whilst you’re at it if your pump is of the same fate.

Yes ,use the sump as catch basin as I wash and clean the pick-up the clean sump.
Any visual clues that the pump was needing to be changed?

No, I changed it on recommendation from others more knowledgeable. The oil level and pickup were cleaned and the oil pressure light was still on, so it made sense. The car was on about 150k miles at the time.

My car dumped the coolant and after refilling and running for a short while, I got the dreaded beeps and low oil pressure light. My oil pick up had been changed since I bought the car.

I had to change my oil pump back in 2017...like you, didn't want to spend a fortune so bought a blueprint one from a place in Warrington called PTS, but can only find their contact page now...

http://plant-transport.store.buegle.com/contact.php/

Annoyingly, I can't find the receipt but I think it was around the £50-£60 mark compared to an oem one, which I also can't remember, about a third of the price.

Sorry mate, not much help...also found it easier to get the sump on/off with some extended allen keys used with a wrench. Had trouble getting one of my oil pump mounting bolts off as it rounded but found a way round it...

Shortly after my turbo died...starved the seals of oil when the pump got weak and then blew the seals and turbine when oil pressure returned!

Only do about 4000 miles a year but so far so good.

yeah, defo get long ball ended allen key for the 2 tricky bolts next to the flywheel, be careful not to drop them as i believe they can fall into the housing. i dropped one of mine on the rebuild but luckily i managed to get it out quite easy. maybe an idea would to be to jack the nearside up so if they do drop, they probably would fall out to the ground.
also take care fitting them back in as they screw into the aluminum crank housing and can chew.

if you struggle with any bolts that wont budget, grab a set of bolt removers from screwfix for about a tenner, i had to coz my crank pully allens rounded out.

Thanks for the help and advice ! The 5mm was a lifesaver. Didn't think I had one and wasn't going to buy a whole set ,when I was buying supplies locally . But I had one in the inventory ...
You can see the before and after pictures that it was time . Soaked it in gasoline/petrol, brake clean, blew through with compressor and used a safety pin to get really be sure that the mesh was clean
