Hi all,
I am new to the group but have been using it for all my information needed for a few months now.
I have an issue where I cannot figure out how to get the front door speakers working, however the centre speaker works fine.
I have taken the door cards off and tested the speakers with an ohm meter and they are fine. I tested the resistance at the Quadlock connector and of course this is showing 4 ohms which I assume is the centre speaker.
I shorted the speaker cables on the door and it still reads 4 ohms.
So, where is the connection for the centre speaker?
I should also mention I have checked inside the gator going in-between the door and body for broken cables. I have also replaced the stereo head-unit and the fault is still there, I initially thought it was the head-unit.
I am no dummy when it comes to installs and overcome the issue with no sound to the rears because of the half amp system.
regards Damian.

Firstly we would need some more info about your head unit , factory or aftermaket , has the unit been coded correctly , have you reset unit after codung . Just a few

Connect a temp speaker at each point & you'll find the issue, if it's Bose goto the amp & work from there, of course check the line feeds to the amp from the head unit too.

There was a factory unit in the car when I purchased it, but I now have an aftermarket Android unit. The fault was there on both. All speakers work other than the front doors. When you say coding, what exactly do you mean please?

I was thinking of doing this. It's a half amp system, rears are amplified with standard sub in boot.

It's not coding, it's wiring or faulty amp, I'd say wiring if speakers test ok.

There must be a connection under the dashboard somewhere, where the centre speaker and front tweeters connect to the door cables but I am unable to locate these to test. Anyone know where I will find these connections? Bit stuck really, I could tap into the original cables going into the door from inside the car but finding access a problem.

Just work from the head unit 1st, then goto each point, tbh both fronts not working is little coincidental, you sure quad lock is connected properly as sometimes the pins push out of there slots.

Am I right in thinking the center speaker and front tweeters are fed from the front speaker feed on the quadlock though? In which case it wouldn't be the connections on the stereo, is my thinking.

Front speakers run direct from the head unit as it's non bose

So where does the centre speaker connect to then please? The front tweeters on the window pillars work though.

there is no separate connection for centre speaker as far as I can see.

Just goto the head unit & connect there & test, we're going back & forth when you can just test the fronts directly.

Well that test worked the front speakers work when directly wired, but I kind of knew they would because I tested everything prior to posting this thread.

Ok so that's a fair bit more forward, so now test at the door hinge rubber, push a wire into the pins & test.

Yes there is sound there when I put pins into the door hinge connector. The speaker is very quiet on this test and the last, but working.

Problem solved!! I removed pin 7 on the B plug and it now all works. Thanks for your time in trying to resolve my sound issues. Much appreciated.
Damian.

Hi there, bit new on the forum and was wondering if you guy's knew what Pin 7 on the B plug actually refers to a part reference in particular would be incredibly helpful as I am experiencing the exact same problem on my own Audi A3 8P and wondered as to how to resolve it.

Kind Regards,
