Good evening, I know this has been posted quite number of times but I'm pulling my hair out with this.

So I purchased my 2011 S3 few weeks ago and it has a RNS-E fitted.

I wanted to install Bluetooth with full integration to the mix so I purchased a second hand one off e-bay. part number 8P1862335A

I've also purchased a VCDS of e-bay but its version 17.1.0 and i was advised not to update it or the cable would not work.

I also purchased a plug and play wiring harness from "car-systems" and followed their instructions for installation. https://www.carsystems.eu/bluetooth-plug-play-wiring,id26.html

I've tried countless codes but to no avail.

a few questions:

1. Is the RNS-E classified as MMI?
2. Why are the descriptions of the codes on my VCDS are different to the ones given on the ross-tech website? (see photos)

The VDCS is very intermittent when accessing #77 its very hit and miss in letting me access the code to change it. it often shows the following error "no response from controller"

Have i completely missed the mark in trying to do this myself?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

No response from 77 is either the bluetooth box is faulty, or a wiring problem. I've been there with no communication at all.

When I used a fake one, it was fine. I went genuine lol

Fake cable so anything is possible.

Does the cable access other modules ok, if so then either module has a fault or wiring is amiss.
