Hi there guys & gals:blackrs4:
I have a A3 1.9Tdi 2009 plate, I am trying to trace the "wiring for the front fog light circuit"

I have a Haynes manual for the A3 1.9 Tdi 2009 and the actual "fog light circuit" is not shown. I think it might be because these were purchased aftermarket before I purchased the car and the previous own did not understand or know how to install them correctly.

On the offside in the vicinity of the offside front fog light I have found a wire with a plug on the end and upon testing with the engine running and going through various light modes gives no results ?

I have checked all the fuses and they are all intact.

If all else fails I am even prepared to run a wire from the engine bay into the cabin, pick up a permanent live and then to a separate switch. that then is a whole new ball game.

My thoughts are that if I get an up to date wiring schematic that shows front lighting system I might beable to decipher the problem from there.
Any ideas anybody reading this would be helpful

You will need the correct lighting switch on the dash and use vcds etc to activate the front fog lights

Hi there Abi
Many thanks for contributing to my thread.
As you will see in the attached image.
  1. Off
  2. DRL
  3. Sidelights
  4. Main Beam
  5. Pull Out for fog lights
  6. Fog lights
    L2
Maybe I'm missing something here BUT isn't that the correct switch ?:blownose:

Yes that’s the correct switch, probably just down to coding, if front fog lights haven’t been activated the module will not put power to them. Do you know anyone with vcds?

On looking again at your lighting switch, it’s not the correct one, for front and rear fogs it should look like this:-

Yours is only for rear fogs

On my old 2006 1.9 I needed to upgrade the central electrics module to retrofit the front fogs as well as the wiring. Not sure if they standardized the CE module in later years but I doubt it.
