Went to unlock my car this evening to go home from a party. Upon arrival at my car the key fob wouldn't unlock the car, assuming the battery was low as the LED was dim. I tried the key in the door, the car made a sound of it unlocking but the door is still locked. So I'm in a bit of a problem, I'm parked in a space where I will probably get ticketed in 6 hours.

I managed to replace the battery in the fob, but it's still isn't unlocking, (car door and unlock button), the LED is nice and bright now.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I likely to need to get it towed?

Hi there, and Welcome! Is your car an Avant version? The centre button on the keyfob should unlock/open the tailgate - press for a second or so to use it. I think it does the same for the boot on saloons but that doesnt help much - you can climb throug the car if its an Avant.
I've found (myself) that once the key is in the ignition & car started, it seems to fix the non operation of the fob.......
Worth a try.

I drive an A4 S Line Cabriolet, however I managed to solve my problem this morning.

Upon arrival at my car at 7am, in a storm...

I inserted my key into the driver's door lock, twisted to the lock position and back to neutral, then twisted it to the unlock position, and then back to neutral. It didn't work the first time, but the second time was a charm and my car allowed me to open the door.

Upon entry I did a resync, I sat in the car, locked the doors from the inside, put my key in the ignition, turned to the 2nd click, and held down the unlock button until the hazard lights flashed. Turned the car off again and then I was able to start my car no problems.

But thank you for getting back to me

There could be a lesson here for all,
I changed my battery last week and went to lock the car as usual and the key fob did not work,
So went to open the door with the key, it opened but was very stiff.
As we always use the keyfob, might be worth opening the door with the key a few times just to be sure,
as the day you need it, may not work. I will give mine a spray at service.
